144hz+ is a minor improvement. gsync and freesync are moderate improvements. higher resolutions wont work great with newer games (lag) and non-standard resolutions (1440p) can give some smaller shittier games issues. if you sit away from the monitor (i have mine on a coffee table while i sit on the couch) then you need to up the dpi and negate the positives of the higher resolutions. ultrawide is a meme according to /g/. panel type is important but an ips panel with a wide viewing angle is fine. oled when??

best case -> get a second 1080p monitor of similar bezel and size or save your money until this new meme-tech monitor bullshit becomes standard and cheap.

Hijacking thread, I'm also in the lookout I have 2 old 1080p monitors and since we got 1440p displays at the office I feel spoiled.

What would /g/ recommend? 1 x 4K or 2 x 1440p (current budget can't afford 2 x 4K)

What are manufactures aversion to glass panels? It seems impossible to find any decent 4K IPS glass paneled monitors.

Two displays are always useful for productivity.

I could get 1 4K and keep a 1080p as secondary screen or settle with 2 1440p monitors.
Are 4K screens worth it nowadays? I can get a P2715Q for around $380

by the time you'll have a need for 4k (content), your monitor will be "old and outdated". does it support hdr? good pixel response? creame of the crop panel and post processing? it's a nightmare question. would you rather ultrawide than 4k? if your main issue is tiling and productivity then its your preference. i prefer multiple monitors but i like fullscreen apps with no fuxing with tiling. i have 7 1920x1200 monitors at work (lol)

For 1080p is pretty much the limit at which pixel density becomes so low that picture quality starts going to shit
For larger screens you need higher resolution or sit farther away
