Unless you guys give me a good, non-meme reason not to, I'm ditching my Android/LineageOS phone for a 6S tomorrow.
Have any of you /g/entoomen switched? Do you miss anything from Android? Does iOS have any annoying quirks I'm not aware of?
>>
>>62005444
Here's a good reason not to: you should get a 7 in Jet Black instead. 6S is going to be old news come September.
>>
>>62005444
All smartphones are shit. I wanna get rid of my 6S and get a flip phone.

The price difference is absurd and I'm basically a poorfag. The 6S is just barely within my budget. I'm switching because Android has annoyed the shit out of me one too many times, not because I looked at the calendar and realized my phone is, like, so last year.
>>
>>62005521
see >>62005511
>>
>>62005521
Then at least wait for iPhone X and 7S to come out, then you'll get price slashes on the 7.
>>
>>62005444
I picked the 6S only because it still has a headphone jack. Dealbreaker, I don't want to deal with a dongle whenever I'm using headphones and a charger (like in bed). Do it if you want something easy and accessible that won't require a lot of your time and effort to tweak it to your liking. The obvious downside is that you can't change anything if the OS has quirks that put you off.
Only thing I miss from Android is that. Other than that, my last Android phone (LG Optimus 4X HD) was godawfully slow. The fucking thing always unloaded all the icons on the home screen whenever you quit a resource intensive app. And if you quit an app and locked the screen, it would gladly resume slowly loading the icons whenever you unlocked the phone again. Drove me insane and I never managed to find a good root.

I don't really see what you're trying to tell me. The iPhone looks fast enough, I don't care about charge speeds, and picking a phone based on benchmark results seems silly anyway.

The jelly scrolling has been fixed.

Also you must have more money than brains if you think spending more money for a laggy piece of shit that takes hours to charge and minutes to discharge is a good idea at all.

The worst part of iPhones is pic related. Apple is a fucking joke. They literally outrank chinkshit in terms of shittiness.

Really, even though it tales 4X longer to charge and even longer if you use it while it's charging. Do you even have a job?
>>
>>62005620
Never had that before, 2bh. Only thing that drove me mad about my 5S was the battery shitting the bed. It would turn off randomly when the percentage reached ±30% and only switch back on when it felt like it. It was already a few years old by then, though. Hope my 6S won't get the same problem.
>>
>>62005571
Is this actually a good strategy? IIRC the price cuts right after the next iPhone release are actually quite pathetic, at least where I live.

>>62005576
The missing headphone jack is actually a good reason not to wait for a 7 price cut, now that you mention it.

>>62005620
Don't you have to push your iPhone pretty hard for it to throttle itself like that? I want to use it for 4chan, photos and maps, not as a Chromium build bot.
>>
>>62005672
The 6s has the same problem and the "iPhone needs to cool down" has been reported while people are doing simple things like web browsing. Battery life is abhorrent too.

Look man, I used to own iPhones and you're making a mistake. iPhones stopped being good after the 4s, after that it's all gone down hill from there.

This is ignoring the fact that you have to deal with iTunes and the mountain of useful features you won't have access to.
>>
I switched to the iPhone 7 after 6 years on Lagdroid and I'm pretty happy. Everything works smoothly, framedrops are super rare and the phone and OS are beautiful to look at.

Just want to find a elegant way to watch webm's on /g/, since Safari won't play them.

>This is ignoring the fact that you have to deal with iTunes and the mountain of useful features you won't have access to
iTunes doesn't really bother me. I only use it to make the occasional backup and I used to use it for syncing music, legally bought or pirated until I became a basic streaming pleb. And what features will I be missing out on? Honest question. I don't really care much for customisation anymore, I put in so much effort in my Android phones. Now I'd rather direct all that effort to other hobbies.

I should add that after around 11 months of using my 6S, it still works like a charm. Battery life is as good as ever and it easily lasts me 1,5 days with normal usage. Charging is pretty quick, 80% within an hour and topped off within 2,5-3 hours. It's also still pretty fast, and I hope iOS 11 won't slow it down.

You're either lying or are lucky enough that you haven't gotten the unknown errors while backing up and transferring with itunes.

Anyway some of the most useful features that made me ditch iPhones have been:
Downloading more than 100MB over mobile data
Using my phone as a flash drive (used to carry like 4)
Share any kind of file over wifi/bluetooth (ie .exe, .pdf)
view better colors (see amoled vs ips)
extract/browse archives
add widgets to my home screen

I haven't gotten unknown errors, only thing that has bothered me for a while when using iTunes was, ironically, that my playlists and songs often synced better when I was using an Android phone and a third party syncing app. Songs would often not sync at all or I'd get duplicate playlists. I think some update fixed that. iCloud Music is also a pain in the arse.
>>62005876
Take the 80% with a grain of salt, but charging it from low to a usable level of charge is surprisingly swift. Topping it off takes longer, though.
>>
>>62005949
>Take the 80% with a grain of salt, but charging it from low to a usable level of charge is surprisingly swift. Topping it off takes longer, though.
He's talking out of his ass. I owned an iPhone 6s and it would take 2 hours to get to 80% and another 1 hour to get to 100%. Battery life was abhorrent as well, I was always looking for a charger by lunch time and the 30 minutes at the wall only gave me 10% more battery.
>>
>>62005788
Wow, this exactly what my android phone of 80 euros does, Cubot note S
>>
>>62005989
Curious, what did you use it for? I listen to a lot of music during my commute (around 30 minutes). Then I browse random stuff on the internet or text whenever I have a break or a lull in work. I don't watch a lot of video without it being plugged in, that's the biggest battery hog.
The guy you just replied to is the same guy who made the claim of charging it to 80% within an hour, btw (me). I realised I never accurately timed it, so it's a dumb claim. Still, it charges pretty quickly for a phone without separate speed charging function.
>>
>>62006066
>Curious, what did you use it for?
Whatsapp, tinder, twitter, netflix, youtube, and other typical stuff. I mostly used it mostly during my train commute to work (2 hours) and lunch break (30 minutes). Yet somehow this piece of shit was at 30-40% by lunchtime despite charging it to 100% the previous night.

>The guy you just replied to is the same guy who made the claim of charging it to 80% within an hour, btw (me). I realised I never accurately timed it, so it's a dumb claim. Still, it charges pretty quickly for a phone without separate speed charging function.
Well I timed mine, started at 0%, and checked every 15 minutes. 2 hours is a very long time if you have a job. Stop talking out of your ass and encouraging people to buy overpriced pieces of shit they'll regret later on.

>>
>>62006180
Youtube and Netflix are massive battery drains, especially if you're streaming data while watching instead of downloading the content beforehand. Your phone is maintaining a continuous connection with (various) cell towers, decompressing a video stream, keeping the screen backlit and turned on, and playing audio. No wonder your phone is low on battery after two hours of that shit. Get a battery bank or a phone with a giant battery that suits your needs. You're falling for the classic 'it doesn't fit my niche so it's shit' pitfall.

my oneplus 3 doesn't have this problem

Now my battery only drops to 60-70% by lunchtime and I still have 20-30% left after the train ride back home. No battery bank required. Also when I forget to charge it the night before it goes up by ~50% during lunchtime despite me using it for things like netflix.

The battery apple uses are just way too fucking small.
iPhone 7 Plus: 1,715 mAh
Oneplus 3: 3,000 mAh

Anyway I kinda liked iPhone 6s because of the clean UI that didn't require 30 minutes of ricing to look decent (only had to do it once though) but overall I don't think this is a phone anybody with a job should consider. Maybe if you carry a bulky car battery with you everywhere you go but other than that it's a no-go.

>>62006502
It will still be overpriced as fuck even it it matches the price of the Oneplus 5. 3 fucking hour charging time lmao.

i dont have that one but i guess you simply dont get it/ever owned an iphone before. They simply work fine out of the box and you have an OS thats optimized for the hardware and will get updated reliably. The app store ecosystem just shits on androids because devs actually get paid, you dont have to worry about it leaking your data to Xi Jingping, and absolutely BEST cameras out there (the iphone 7+ one is not even fair)

A LOT has to change for me to go back to android. OnePlus arent that bad tho if you cant afford an iphone i guess (at least they dont have the 3 icons on the bottom of the screen, goddammit)

>Does iOS have any annoying quirks I'm not aware of?
The whole OS is annoying and shitty. You can't even move the icons where you want on the home screen. They're all locked to a grid and snap to the top left. There is zero customization options outside of changing the wallpaper. There's no way to backup the phone without using iTunes and you need OS X or Winshit for it. iCloud backups can be made but cloud storage is insecure (see the fappenings) and if you want more than 5GB you pay monthly for it. The updates are about 1.5GB EACH, nearly two times larger than the entire Lineage OS zip file that you use on first install, so fuck you if you have the base model with low storage. And don't even think about using cheap chargers from the gas station. You'll probably get an "accessory not supported" message on the device you plug it into because it isn't Applel certified and it won't charge it. Each genuine cable has a small chip in it that's used for verification. You can't really blame these Chinese companies for bypassing certification because it's $4 per cable, whereas other proprietary standards like HDMI are about $0.05 per cable, and something like microUSB or USB C doesn't have those bullshit strings attached and will generally work as intended on any device. iTurds also lack things like NFC and wireless charging. They get extremely hot when charging because they're aluminum and the whole rear housing is a heat sink.

I've owned an iPhone 4 with antenna issues, and iPhone 5 with a weak power button, and an iPhone 6 that got touch disease even though I kept in a case. I will never buy iShit ever again. In place of it I recommend anything that isn't made by Apple.

I switched from Android to iOS arund a year ago.

I don’t really miss the customization. There’s only so many ideas for launchers and lockscreens, and most of the “creative” ones are just confusing

Being able to get updates as soon as they’re released is cool. Back on some of my Android phones, it took forever, and sometimes I just didn’t get them at all. Yes, I know there’s the Pixel, but that’s one specific phone, and a lot of Android phones still have this problem.

The hardware is a cut above most Android phones. No much to say there.

iOS is very pretty, and I prefer it to Material Design. Yes, it’s very subjective, but it does improve my experience.

iOS also comes with stock apps that are pretty helpful. Yes, you might not think much of things such as Notes, Maps, FaceTime Reminders, but they’re free, and they’re pretty well made.

Android isn’t awful or unsusable by any means, but I’m content with what I have. Oh, and the heaphone jack thing is a total non-issue. I never used my phone while charging it anyway. I have bigger things to use at home.

>>
>>62005620
OP5 user here, nothing's been fixed as it would require to turn the fucking screen and they didn't do that. It's basically a no issue unless you have supper sensitive eyes though.

Get it replaced under warranty
>>

I got a 6S a year ago, after trying out 4 different android phones and hating them enough that I switched back to a dumb phone after a month.

I like the 6S. I never feel like I'm fighting it to get it to do what I want it to do. That said, I would wait until the 7S/8 drops, as you'll only be waiting like a month, and get huge price drops.
>>
>>62010827
How's the fast charging? Is it true the phone doesn't get hot like with quick charging 3.0? Does it actually still charge fast even when you're using the phone.
>>
>>62010971
How do you deal with the shitty battery life and dogshit slow charging time? That's what made me give up iPhones and switch to a V20.
>>
>>62011016
Well, I don't really use it very much, so there's that. Most days, I go to bed with 70 percent of the battery left. Then I just plug it in and go to sleep.
>>
>>62011044
That's nice. Most days I gotta sit in in a van for 1-2 hours just to get to work so I often take out my phone to watch tv shows or play vidya with bluetooth headphones.

I miss being a neet sometimes. The work they make you do in fruit processing plants can get pretty tiresome. Never knew how much fucking work a shitty salad only moms buy takes.
>>

>That's nice. Most days I gotta sit in in a van for 1-2 hours just to get to work so I often take out my phone to watch tv shows or play vidya with bluetooth headphones.

My job is a 2.2 mile drive away. I drive myself, and I bring my laptop to work, as well. So, like I said, I don't need to use the iPhone very much. I've never been NEET.

Also, if I had a long drive to work, I would bring a car adapter for the iPhone.
>>
>>62011211
Good for you man, looks like I got the short end of the stick like most people. I have a car as well but I don't think driving 100+ miles to and from work every day is good for mine so I stick with the $20 weekly van transportation charge to work.
>>
>>62011263
So, bring a car adapter, and use it to keep your phone charged during the 2-4 hours you spend on the road every day.

>poorfag buys iPhone
hmmmm really gets my noggin joggin apple elitists.
>>

>I'm a poorfag
Credo Mobile gives away iPhones with contract. Can't speak for single line service, but I actually save money over something like Page Plus Cellular, AND get a free phone for me and the wife.
>>
>>62011270
Nah, my V20 last me through the whole day. The way my life is set up I can't afford to use an iPhone no matter how much money I made lol.

>>62011280
I see this at work as well. Most of the female workers here are glued to their iPhones and wall chargers during lunch break. Yet when they leave for work they're driving rusty hondas and toyotas from WW1. Most likely got them on leases too.

>>62011317
You're getting fucked over m8. I bought my V20 with cash and only pay $35/month for my unlimited fast data metropcs plan (I'm on a family plan with 3 others though). I get hbo now for $15 extra and don't have a home isp or cable. This way I'm stashing $100 away in a savings account every month for financial security.

I pay 40 bucks per line per month for 1GB, but I got it more for the unlimited talk/text. I'm constantly saturated in wifi that goes faster than 4G LTE in my area, and I get unlimited data for it for 36/month. I have hbogo, Netflix, Starz, Amazon Prime, Showtime Anytime, FXNow, AMC, FoxNow, NBC, ABC, Spike, USA, DIY, Syfy, the CW, NBC Sports, Comedy Central, WatchESPN, History, A&E, Nick, Nick Jr, Disney, Disney Junior, Disney XD, CBS Sports, MTV, Encore Play, Fox Sports Go, and CW Seed for free due to a willingness to trade Crunchyroll to 3 friends.

I'm happy with what I got.
>>
>>62011387
MetroPCS throttles data once you go over your limit. You won't be able to stream video on EV-DO speeds.
>>
>>62011423
Still you shouldn't be getting phones on leases or contracts. If you want iPhones that badly you can get them cheap on ebay auctions or craiglist.

Do you have your car on a lease?
>>
>>62011456
I already used 70GB of data last month, not sure what you mean. Never had any data throttling.
>>
>>62011462
I purchased my car with Cash.

Again, I literally could not get unlimited talk/text on a Verizon-networked MNVO (which I NEED - no other options out here) for less than what I pay for Credo. Page Plus Cellular matches the price - they don't beat it. So its literally getting phones for the cost of tax.

If you want to search wikipidia's MNVO list and show me a Verizon plan that has unlimited talk/text for less than 40 per month per line, feel free. If you can show me a plan that is so much less that I would save money even after purchasing two 600 dollar phones, I'll admit that you are right, and that I feel foolish.
>>
>>62005444
Buy whatever the fuck you want, if you're too dumb to handle Android then buy iOS and if it's not up to your expectations then refund it.
>>
>>62011462
Including the cost of the phones new, you would need to get 2 lines with unlimited talk and text for 30 bucks to match his price - 15 dollars per line. And that's just to MATCH the numbers he's giving, not beat them.

For him, I don't think he's gonna be able to find a better plan to fit his needs.
>>
>>62011495
At least you're not paying $400-800 for a car like most americans do. It's really sad how anybody would consider getting a car on a lease at all. I'd rather sleep in my car than lose it completely because steinburg didn't get get his monthly money shot out of me.

protip: mechanics love to overcharge the shit out for repairs. I once got a guy who almost conned me into paying $1,200 for a tune-up. Bought all the spark plugs, distributor cap, filters, oils, and other stuff for ~$400 and got a guy to do the tune-up for $650 with a 1-month guarantee.
>>
>>62005444
Still rocking my 6s the 2 gb of ram is boss
>>
>>62011617
I'm actually childhood friends with my mechanic. I buy the parts at O'Reiley's, and he takes care of everything else for free. In return, I take care of all his computer needs. It's a good trade.

Shiiieeet, we'll you are one lucky sob. I'm pretty jelly desu, I've had to shell out more than $3,000 on brake, tire, alternator, AC, oil changes, and other repair/replacements since I got my car 5 years ago.

I moved to iPhone 6 from android and as comfy as it is it has mongole tier actions, for instance background apps no clear all, no webm play, a simple back button would be better than fucking scrolling until you see the option to go back, having to scroll through contacts to find name instead of typing their name and choosing from options..but meh, looks good in red (which I chinked from a grey, now it looks ltd edition nigguh) goin back to android mid 2018
>>
>>62005444
You should probably wait the few weeks for the 7s or whatever to come out. That will make 6s before-last gen and probably cut the price down a bit further. Otherwise, go for it. I have the 6s and it's a great device, as long as you know that some things you won't be able to do and there is no way around them short of voiding your warranty and compromising the phone's security.

I've seen that message only once, when a friend of mine left his whole in the sun at noon in summer. This is not the a6300 that overheats during normal use.
>>
>>62005715
Kek. You don't need iTunes for anything at all any more. Also having had the 6s for over a year now, I have never had it overheat even once nor do I know a single person who has. What percentage of people are exactly reporting that problem?
>>
>>62011844
But I am not, anon. Why are you so upset by the fact that people actually enjoy the premium product they've paid for? Cause muh brand loyalty to Android, you massive autist cuck?
>>
>>62005444
Apple products are terrible, don't do it. My entire family fell for the Apple meme, and every few months when I go to visit they've had to replace at least three things since I was last there. If you want a decent, cheap phone, I suggest a oneplus 3t, my bf and I both have one, and love them. Charges really quickly and the stock os doesn't have bloat, besides Google apps. Only annoying thing that comes to mind is that the camera sticks out just a bit but I keep mine in a case so it's no big deal. Charging block is pretty bulky too.
>>
>>62011762
The Chan has webm support, you can just swipe from the left side to the right to go back in the vastest majority of apps and there is a search bar on top of your contacts list. Alternatively you can swipe down from the home screen and just get the contact through search. Background tasks are a bit weird though.
