hi /g/ I'm going to build a my first pc and I've been reading pic related is great but it doesnt work with emulators. is this true? if so, what cpu should I get?
you should get the intel i3 3100 for emulators. my dad works at Intel and he says it's the best

Only game that was having issues with emulation on Ryzen was BotW on CEmu and recently performance improvements have made it just as playable as Intel.
They work great with emulators.

elaborate please

If you mean something like MAME or ZSNES or even ePSXe then any CPU made the last 10 years will do just fine. And this includes all the Ryzen CPUs.
Is there any specific emulator you're thinking about (ab)using? I guess something that emulates Xbox ONE would be demanding (not aware of any such emulator, just saying it would require some CPU cycles).

Ryzen is absolutely fine for emulation. Better than any non-HEDT Intel chip for RPCS3 and fast enough to run any other emulator at full speed.
Not true you fucking idiot. Dolphin is the only emulator that you MIGHT get an extra 3fps with different CPU. Every other emulator works the exact same with even up to 7 year old PCs.
However, I'll elaborate. If you are building your first PC. I just went through all that shit. Get an i5 or an i7 for your budget. They work best for gaming and emulators.

You forgot b350 vs z370.
Also, some lower price ram also overclocks great, you just have to do some research.
And if core/thread count matters more to you than clock speed, it's an obvious choice.
