First year compsci student here.
I'm planning on becoming a Linux system administrator once I graduate so what should I do to know Linux inside out? I.e. how do I become a Linux wizard?
Install gentoo
Little bit of Linux from Scratch, little bit of real-world experience with enterprise systems.

Use it. Put it on your laptop and run it as your everyday OS. Solve problems you encounter with it. This won't exactly teach you everything you need to know but it'll give you the basic skills you need to learn that stuff. Embrace your inner neckbear.

Unironically literally install gentoo, then arch then linux from scratch.
DON'T follow any videos, that's cheating.

I don't live in the US so I'm not going to end up in a five figure sum debt for studying at university. Where I live, most IT jobs' requirements state that candidates must have at least a bachelor's degree in a related field. Other than that, what's wrong about being an admin?

>what's wrong with being an admin?

taking the autism aside from those anons, I think they are referring that your career choice is not related to the job you wanna do. It helps to have some knowledge in programming for scripting and automation purposes but you will better choosing something related to networking or Informations Systems (I don't know how do you call it in your country).
you will have to read a lot about it and I doubt your teacher could help you on that topic. Install virtual machines and read books about Linux and Windows Server.

Lol ...why get a cs degree if you're going to do Linux admin? Just get a mis degree and Linux certs.
