Why are there no gsync 1080p IPS monitors? I don't want

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Why are there no gsync 1080p IPS monitors?

I don't want 1440p due to shitty resolution scaling and games run poorly even on a 1080ti at 4k.

Do I really need to buy a 4k monitor and run it at 1080p?
>>
because its a waste of money meme.
>>
>>61946180
profit margins are too low on 1080p goyim, it's like you're not willing to support nvidias need to keep profit margins above 60%. Stop being antisemitic
>>
>>61946173
You don't need g-sync. That 1080ti easily manages 60fps so just use regular v-sync
>>
>>61946173
Because gsync is a meme dude.
>>
>shitty resolution scaling
Do you literally only use your PC for Speccy screenshots
You deserve a 1080p 60hz g sync display
>>
>>61946282
>You deserve a 1080p 60hz g sync display

You say that like it's not the pinnacle of displays already.
>>
>>61946293
Freesync is the pinnacle because of Radeon Chill
>>
>>61946310

Actually I wasn't revering to the g-sync. Sorry for the confusion. The 1080p [sic] 60 hz is.

Also both g-sync and free sync are snake oil (just enable v-sync) although I don't oppose free sync since it's royalty-free.
>>
>>61946331
>snake oil
Just like SSDs amirite ;^)
>>
>>61946230
>>61946331
>just use v-sync
I'm sensing some memery here.
>>
>>61946369
SSDs have a huge measurable and perceivable performance increase over HDDs. I don't see how that is "like" synchronized frames at a rate of 60 fps vs a bit lower or higher fps.

Succ it, I don't even have g sync enabled because I always hit the target fps (and use ULMB)
Oh but waaah my safari icon is slightly inflated at 1440p such a meme wtf
>>61946331
>but it doesn't cost money if you don't have it bro
Classic
>>
>>61946331
Only some dirty console peasant on "my first pc" would enable vsync and not see any issues

you already failed the /g/ent challenge

Do the same with some shittier ports like Deus Ex Mankind divided
>>

Something that has been working for literally ever and is available as a standard on all systems is hardly a meme, fa.m
>>
>>61946412
I've been using vsync for over 15 years now and there is indeed no problem.

Not your display you fucking mongoloid. v-sync is known to cause input lag in plenty of games where you'd notice it the most like fast paced shooters, rhythm games, and rts.

I already have one, m8

Not in all game engines. CS:GO, OW, TF2, Osu! all have this problem where input latency is directly tied to frame-rate. v-sync by it's nature limits the ability of the engine to respond to inputs.
>>
>>61946818
>change vsync buffer to 0

Huh, my GTX 1070 runs games at 1440p really well. Not ultra obviously but mix of High-Ultra. I get 90-130 fps, depending on the title. My CPU is bit of a bottleneck, i7-2600k @ 4.4Ghz.
>>
>>61946173
IPS isn't ideal for high refresh-rates anyway. Most IPS monitors are limited to 60 Hz.

There's some great progress in AHVA monitors, they have just as good color accuracy and darker blacks and can have a lot higher refresh-rates. Also, they are much cheaper.

As for gsync in general: You'll have to blame nvidia for being difficult about it. AMD went with "it's free to use as long as you follow the standard" where as gsync will cost a ton extra to make in nvida-fees.

>>61946385
Using a SSD instead of a HDD is like night and day. The performance-difference is huge.

>>61946728
>Getting triggered over anime on 4chan
Please go back to r eddit
>>
>>61946173
Gsync and freesync are only good for when you are pushing low fps compared to your monitors max frquency. Putting that on a 1080p monitor is pointless since even low end cards like the 1070 can max things out at that resolution.

Also why wouldn't you get a 4k? Why waste the money on a 1080 or 1440 now when 4k is the next step and you will want one in a couple years anyways?

Vega 64, 1080, and 1080ti can do 4k @ 60 using high, not ultra, settings on most games. The next gpu line up of navi and volta will push 4k easy.
>>
>>61946173
>don't want 1440p due to shitty resolution scaling
what? 1440 is like night and day, you'll never want to go back to 1080p
>>
>>61946173
>I don't want 1440p due to shitty resolution scaling
Um, why don't you get a 32" 1440p screen, sweetie. They even come in curved form
now!
>>
>>61946173
I'm using a GTX 1080 on a 4k G-Sync monitor and its sweet. on a standard 60hz monitor gaming was shit at ultra but now its smooth even under 60FPS
>>
>>61946173

OP here, what I mean by shitty resolution scaling is that some of the games I play do not have ui scaling for resolutions beyond 1080p. This means that the ui becomes unreadable on a higher resolution.

>>61946230
>>61946399
>>61947045
>>61949721
The games I play don't give me that kind of fps. I'm dropping to 40 fps with a GTX 1080 in Dark & Light occasionally. There are a while bunch of other games that give me similar performance.

There are also the games that end up CPU bottlenecked that can drop fps.

>>61947087
Thank you!
>>
>>61951155
>some of the games I play do not have ui scaling for resolutions beyond 1080p
yes they do, if PPI on the monitor is the same as on 24" 1080p. For 1440p that spot is 32"
>>
There are only 3 monitors worth considering at 1440p / 144hz

ASUS MG279Q
ASUS PG279Q
ViewSonic XG2703-GS

The viewsonic has bright green edgy gamer trash branding, so that narrows it down to two. Go for the PG279Q if you want G-Sync or go for the MG279Q if you want FreeSync. If you don't care about either go MG279Q as the response time of the monitor is said to be better, although I have neither so this is all just conjecture :^)

good luck gamer hope u get many frags gamer

Agree.

Overclocked Freesync range to 62-144 and it's a beautiful experience on any fast paced fps
>>
>>61951155
>Dark & Light
what? unoptimized games giving you low fps on a massive power card?
theres something elts wrong with your pc anon
>>
>>61955091
You call them unoptimized but I call it reality. For sine reason I have ended up playing games like that.

There's nothing wrong with my PC. I get the usual benchmark scores appropriate for my hardware. I'm just not in denial about performance.

I've studied game development and fine it professionally for a time. I know the kind of clusterfuck that happens where a shitty card game can bring a modern top of the line system to its knees.

Not every game is a rerelease of call of duty or doom.
