Why did normies start using Discord randomly? It seemed to just come out of nowhere. I remember shilling Mumble since like 2013 to all my normie friends who were into gaymes since they constantly complained that teamspeak servers were too expensive to rent and Ventrilo or whatever sucked and with Mumble they could host their own server, but they said that it looked unsafe or some dumb shit like that. And now they're all using discord, which I guess must somehow seem safer to them, even though many have admitted to only hearing about it in the very close past and not knowing much about it.

I also hate the fags who make posts on boards here that are like "hey /po/, I made a Papercraft discord so that we all can finally have a place to discuss papercraft" like we don't have a whole board dedicated to discussing that shit.

Keeps discord from snooping around on your system. The only things it can access are the things I let it have access to. Kind of a pain to build a profile for it, but there's a guide for building firejail profiles.

Using Mumble since 2012 and only recently I installed discord. It has a nice chat with archive but that's all, rest is normie features - single account for every server/channel, centralized logging and ability to add friends. Also windows client hogs resources and runs like shit

Because having a matrix server with a riot client is much better than discord. Plus you can host your own servers.
