http://www.infoworld.com/article/3186781/processors/intels-cannonlake-pc-chip-shipments-may-slip-into-next-year.html

>Those 8th Generation Core laptops may be more attractive to customers. The first 10-nm Cannonlake chips will be slower than 14-nm 8th Generation Core processors. Intel acknowledged the speeds during the manufacturing event, with a chart showing 10-nm chips catching up with 14-nm chip performance in one to two years.

Then... what's the advantage? Lower power consumption? Just Intel thinking people will buy their new chips anyway?

I mean... if you have a CPU that performs well then why would you "upgrade" to a slower one? Is this why they put toothpaste instead of solder in their CPUs, so they will fail and people will be forced to "upgrade"?
>>
>>61904672
Even better, he could skip right all the way to a ryzen R7 laptop.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/3199028/computers/asus-debuts-the-first-ever-ryzen-laptop-with-a-mobile-radeon-surprise-too.html

Rumour is they were able to keep all 8 cores at 3 GHz under load.
>>
>>61904551
Except they don't have any of that.
They can't go with aggressive pricing or it will eat into their margins and their shares will go down quickly.
Their current lineup is a fucking disaster and there's no indication of improvement in the future. Intel postponed 10nm several times already and the current roadmap only counts with 10nm mobile chips (and slower than 14nm) with desktop ones coming a generation later. Their current architecture is milked dry and new one is slated for 2021.
In short, Intel has nothing and it is going to become only more obvious as time goes on.

I mean how fucking scared is intel right now.

im not shitting on their products, im rocking a sexy 4670K

but releasing 3 fucking platforms in a year, where two of them arent even needed is beyond stupid at this point. and all platforms require new motherboards and have some stupid limitations like high thermals, low clocks, or even shitty PCIE lanes.

like the 7740k. this must really be the dumbest cpu ever. its basicly a 7700k that is hotter and overall more expensive but slower in performance.

it just doesnt make sense. i mean they could just lower the prices of the current gen cpus and still be very competitive.

but then again who would want a cpu that reaches 100c on air and needs to be clocked to 5.0ghz to be competitive.

But NO, we all have to play the latest cowa dooty 4 XL elite on a fucking HEDT platform right? CUNT

~300W per GPU, about the same for the rest of the machine, roughly 1500W. Dual PSU cases exist anon, you could use one 1600W for the GPUs and a ~550W for everything else and have more than enough power.

I'm wrong niw. It used to be mentioned on the wikioedia page. Now it only mentions that Sanders was the director of marketing for fairchild semiconductors before he founded amd.
The wiki used to mention his marketing prowess, and how it kept amd in the game.

Dude, it's sadly not better at calculation per watt, but lighten up, it's a new generation! Just wait!
>>
>>61914349
who cares?
even the 2500K is still capable, and if you got money, you can just buy/build a new system.
>>
>>61914685
As a reseller, I do care.
Already got a hard time selling i3 because of Pentium fiasco from months ago.
>>
>>61914756
isnt an i3 still better than a pentium g4400 tho? or are they basically the same dies but different names?
>>
>>61914784
As far as i know the only difference is that the pentiums don't have AVX

Nigga, I work as a businessman selling products that also age quickly.
There is a 130k$+ stock we manage.
Your job is a thousand times easier.
- You know when new technology hits.
- You can simply see how new tech performs by leaks and reviews.
- You even know when the new processors and technology hits.

So why stock up and cry?
This is just plain retarded.
>>
>>61914945
Also, it's IT, you can get a shipment within days from the larger suppliers in a matter of days. And I live in a shithole.
I mean, the average Joe will just simply buy a PC. To game, to do whatever. They don't know how they work. Simply put the remaining i3 into them and use up the stock. That's how you do business.

We have to predict purchases, the shipments slip by weeks if not months, and we still have to serve out customers.

tl;dr: Visit more /biz/ probably.

>Why stock up an cry.
Pentium G is limited, each resller only got small number of stock for each product.
i3 was a major hit because(who needs more coars, right?)
But suddenly G kaby came out and hoarder start stocking them.
Imagine when people keep praising 7700k as the king of CPU for gaming and suddenly next month intel releasing a the same product for $120 for less than a fucking year later.

Just like during late 90's early 2000's when cpus had huge constant yearly improvements.

That's the point, you dont just sell something then announce something better and multiple times cheaper will be exist in the same year.

It was described in one day-1-review. Perhaps they prepared the main body of the text before using the known data, and it slipped in the released version of the test.
