Let's have a Calculator thread /g/
What calculator do you use and why?
Pic related because my department thinks we can factor in our heads better than we actually can

The one on my phone

I use my FX-82MS chink knock off. It's really basic in terms of features but I got it for the equivalent of $2 in a local shop.
Also it accepts 2xAAA so I don't even need to think about it running out of power.

It's just perfect.
>>
TI-nspire non-CAS. I only have it because a teacher close to me got one but preferred the 84, so it's technically not mine. I've still installed ndless and some custom firmware thing, but the model is too late to put the CAS version on.
>>
Scientific in OP's photo for quick shit, TI-84 Plus C Silver for more in depth shit. Gonna need a TI-89 soon though because math major.
>>
TI-nspire CX
I was forced to get one in high school
Its okay in my opinion

bc

I got a TI nspire CX but it's fucking trash. There's not even a good programming language, and you need link software to use other shitty languages like lua
>>
TI-84 because I am a /g certified hacker
>>
Y'all niggas need this
>>
I have a TI-84 Plus and a TI-Nspire CAS. Had to get both for school. Now that I'm in university they are useless, because you are not allowed to use programmable calculators for almost all exams. There was only one where I was allowed to use it. However, the TI-84 Plus really got me into programming. Without it I would never have gotten into computers and shit.
>>
>>61875309
me too desu
got a ti 86 and i loved programming little crappy games. ti basic on the nspire isn't the same :(
>>
TI-84 Plus. I had one in high school so I bought it for college. I wish I had got an nSpire though. Any exam that lets me use my 84 also allows for an nSpire with a CAS becuase they're administered by a testing center that doesn't know the difference.
>>
>>61872772
I never understood this. It's like saying automatic transmissions and power steering aren't allowed in driving tests. Elitists on /o/ would love the idea, but the rest of us would see it for the absurdity it is.
>>
I personally own a TI-84 CSE
>>
>>61875363
The only thing I used my N-Spire for in school really was math course stuff and playing gameboy games during other lessons on it. I felt like I was the only one in the school not retarded enough to "hack" it. I put Ndless on it as soon as I found out about it.
>>
>>61875510
I lost my license key and I *still* don't have the link software to install ndless. Sucks, man.

Found this bad boy at a thrift store for 14 bucks. Never use it though, it's sitting in a drawer somewhere and it needs new batteries.

This is a real alpha calculator, can even be used as a Gameboy emulator can confirm that.
>>
>>61875257
Me, but only because it's programmable in C. You can reveng the toolchain to find out the format for apps and bring in an up-to-date SH4 compiler with actual floating point instructions.

I can vouch for this. Single most amazing non-graphing calculator out there. This thing feels like cheating when used on tests. It's like a pocket Wolfram Alpha for $20
>>
>>61872517
TI-89 Titanium. Got it over a decade ago, back when I was in high school (literally made Calculus the easiest class I ever took, since I could constantly check my work). Never felt the need to look elsewhere.
