Hey, /g/!
I'm an American, currently in Japan for a couple of weeks. What pieces of tech should I be on the lookout for while I'm in the land of the rising sun?
Staying in Chiba, but Tokyo isn't awfully far.

Japan is expensive.

Nothing much that you can't get in Amazon.

There's nothing you can get here you can't get for cheaper in the States. This isn't the 80's/90's anymore.

Sex robots.
Hell of a lot easier to buy an enema kit in Japan without looking like a homo. That's the only difference in consumer tech retail when comparing Japan vs. America.

All that rice really plugs you up.
I live in Japan and what people are saying is mostly true, most things here are more expensive. I guess some retro game shit might be cheaper but in general nothing good will be found.
That is assuming you want something common or that others actually want. You can find a shitload of cheap phones or random computer or radio parts for example but don't expect to find a $10usd Vaio P or whatever.
Get a HHKB.
