They mean it when they say they're minimalist, by default there are no tabs, but they offer a patch on the website if you really want it.

dwm and st are interesting, but for the most part, suckless projects are masturbatory because it would take real effort to provide an alternative to things that we actually want to replace.

Every widget toolkit is convoluted trash? Simple graphical file managers are dependent on monstrous DE libraries? I know, let's make another minimal web browser, there aren't a dozen of those already.
