i dont need to prove anything to strangers on the internet lol. also im too lazy to post pic. i still have a desktop for gayming and my x301.

ill expand my experience though and say i only use it for audio recording. no idea what OPs needs are but there are MUCH better systems out there for people than the new macbook pro. i only moved over because ive spent years with win7 on an x301 and had a brief moment where money/cost was not a factor. im agnostic about OS if the user knows their needs and best way to address them.

one criticism i can give is the finder and overall app organization gives one a false impression of where files are stored on the drive. and most of the native apps are useless really. i do not know why someone would need ibooks when it just opens pdf up in preview. or why one would need the photo app when they could use image capture. its a very pretty machine but something about windows 7 on a pc just feels..."snappier". i was worried about the touchbar and USB c. both are new things and apple is historically bad with new things. but the touchbar has worked fine (except in 2016), and i only need two dongles which isnt a big deal to me. photographers seem to have gotten fucked the hardest on this ports switchover. im not sure how the throttle has been but i admittedly am a light user. audio is not the most heaviest task to give a computer except in rare occasions. no virtual machine autocad for me. as funny as somebody buying a 2500 dollar macbook to browse facebook and reddit is somebody building a i7/64/raid pc to shitpost and have 2tb of ecchi.

I won't deny, it's garbage, but didn't Apple do sort of the same thing when CDs were starting to become a thing?

It is retarded that they force it so much but pretty much every newer device that comes out now has a USB C port, whether it's Apple or Samsung or anyone else.

What is downright stupid however is that the iPhone 7 has no headphone port.

>>61762892
I unfortunately need either windows 10 or osx. I could buy a shitty laptop every year and have to suffer with the former, for get a decent Unix os and a laptop that should last at least 4 years. When it gets old and aplel drops support ill just replace the battery and by then the linux kernel would support the machine.
>>
>>61762918
Anything you would need a dongle for usually requires the laptop to be stationary anyway, so it's not like portability is an issue.
On the upside a USB c can turn into any port that you need, it has very high bandwidth and you dont need to plug shit straight into the laptops mobo for egpu

I hate to say it friend, but you're going to be in debt for the rest of your life. Your attutude says it all - you think that there are only two options, spending money on "quality" or on a piece of junk. The reality is there are a large number of affordable laptops that will suit your needs. You have just convinced yourself that you need an expensive macbook when in reality you just want one. This is how poorfags think.

USB-C is really inconvenient right now. The USBC defense force will tell you that its the future and whatever but its a massive pain in the ass. I have a Dell XPS13 which has 1 TB3 connector and 2 USB-A ports and I still find it really inconvenient.

That said you'd be hardpressed to find a display on some Windows lappy that could compete with what's on the Pro.

Also a Surface could be another option which is I believe cheaper than a MBP, and much more portable too with, in my opinion, a better screen

See this for instance:

I loved Macs for the hardware. I always ran Ubuntu, but the hardware was my favorite. Here's why I would suggest against it:

1. Keyboard is trash. Keys will randomly stop working and every once in a while a key will start working again if you're lucky. In my case it's been both the actual key mechanism that will stop clicking and it also won't register. On top of that the feel of the keyboard is trash.

2. Battery life is absolutely awful. I heard that the battery life wasn't as good as previous generations but I had no idea it was this bad. Expect 3-4 hours of battery life.

4. Shit tier previous gen processor. I wrote a Java game that runs multiple threads that runs fine on a macbook air, but on the new pro it lags and will randomly freeze.

5. Personal preference: all USB-C is a horrible option. It would be fine if it were ten years down the road and people actually developed products for USB-C, but right now to find anything that fits that port you have to not only pay extra, but also search online.

5.Not compatible with Linux. In some models the SSD, graphics, and sleep won't work. Also bluetooth, audio, and fans won't work in all models.

Dude, just do a late 2015 model. Those are absolutely great and strive in all the areas the new ones suck. And on the plus side you'll get it for less money.
