You move the fingers up, content goes up.

You scroll the wheel up, content flows up.

It's like a touch screen... you push something up, it goes up.

Windows uses the retarded way because you're suppose to move the scroll bar and not the content... which is retarded.

Under Linux and Windows it's easy to setup natural scrolling. It takes 20 min to switch your brain and then you'll never use the retarded way.

I don't understand the shitty naming, but I prefer my interfaces to move my view, not the paper.

When I'm looking at a poster on the wall for example I don't poke my finger at it and move the poster up or down to see all of it, I move my eyes up or down and thus my view moves up or down. Position of the viewport is the key here, not scrollbar, which just happens to represent the same concept

I just cannot get used to "natural" scrolling. Everything else Apple have ever done to the touchpad I've initially been a bit skeptical on but come around to after a while, but "natural" scrolling just feels too weird and unnatural to me. It's probably like Dvorak vs QWERTY; there are apparently advantages and it's possible to change, but I just don't see them as compelling enough to be worth working to overcome decades of muscle memory.

"Natural" on touchscreens I'm fine with; in that case the metaphor of moving the page rather than moving the field of view makes more sense and is more intuitive. My finger getting in the way of content isn't a big issue, since I tend to swipe near the edge of the screen and in any case move my hand out the way once I'm where I want to be. Acceleration is actually sorta possible; on Apple devices at least if you quickly flick there's some inertia so it keeps going a bit, and if you keep flicking it keeps going quickly. It is actually pretty intuitive.

I prefer having an actual fucking mouse, because trackpads/touchpads are shit. If I don't have room for a separate mouse, give me back a clit mouse any day.
