Are the TiBooks even less serviceable than the aluminium PowerBooks? Took 30 screws and an hour or so to get to the HDD in my 12" PowerBook. Removing the optical drive is the worst though, it's literally the last thing you remove from the chassis, you need to take out the fucking logic board to get to it.

>>
>>61717782
Tibook is a 5 minute job max. The bottom comes off and then you remove the drive. It even shows you how to do this in the user manual.
iBooks look like they are a bit more of a pain than a 12" PB because under the plastic case is a metal case. Clamshells are probably even worse because you have to remove the screen.

It was stopped because of FAA rules, not costs.

Yes it was expensive to fly but not economically unfeasible. Charge first / business class + prices for every seat and the flights would be still have enough people to fly and make money.

Someone that fucking hot. Now, how would you feel if you learned that they were actually grown in a lab without a brain. That they where literally a mindless blob of super sexy flesh that lived on reflexes alone?
That's the fucking Vaio P. Fantastic in every regard, except for the thing that matters most for computers, computing.
(That said you can always transplant the motherboard(s) with a custom build, but it's hardly worth it, not when my perfect device would be a vaio P maybe 80% the size of the original)

There was no such feature. It did neither play PSP games, nor PS1 games """natively""". It's literally just an Android phone with game controls built in. The way the Android framebuffer works makes every game except for RTS borderline unplayable due to input delay (which is still a problem in Android 7) and I just posted it because this is a sexy tech thread, not because this device is any good (it's not).

>HA HA HE BOUGHT INTO THE WD PASSPORT MEME
Actually I just searched a bit on Jewgle for an external drive that doesn't have standard SATA connectors internally, thankfully I don't own one myself. While doing so I also read up a little on the things since that "Serial ATA Hard Drive" on the label got me curious. Apparently the things have a SATA controller on the PCB to convert the USB signal to SATA.
So I suppose that you could, in theory, bypass that and solder a SATA port onto it.

Sometimes, we have to make certain sacrifices in life for the sake of getting things done. I dual-boot windows and GNU/Linux because there are engineering and programming tools that I need on both operating systems.

When you have friends whose only negative qualities are that they use botnet software, you either ditch them or not be an ass and only use it with them.

Besides, I don't know what the Discord botnet gets out of me other than lewd anime girl pics, since I don't play games on this thing

Vaio laptop - bought for sole purpose of using as digital oscilloscope screen, been doing great, shit for anythign else that isn't excell / word stuff -my wife loves it.
Phone is some japanese docomo dualscreen shit, bought it to use bottom screen as keyboard - it works suprisingly well!

That is what I wrote in my initial post and I did not sell the GPD Win because of the input delay. That is a problem of the XD and the XD only. The Win is just useless to me because I end up using the Pandora (more battery life, more optimized games, better emulators for the consoles I play)
>>
>>61751189
>I did not sell the GPD Win because of the input delay.
great news anon, that has been fixed since february

>(more battery life, more optimized games, better emulators for the consoles I play)
no argument there, if you like the batter battery life when only sticking to 8 bit and 16 bit games, guess the screen and controls aren't worth it either over the Pandora

What are you talking about. Input delay has never been an issue on the GPD Win and will never be fixed on the GPD XD due to the way the framebuffer works on Android.

>>61751339
>guess the screen and controls aren't worth it either over the Pandora
The screen is shit but the controls are equally bad on both devices. Honestly, only the PSP Go (not the Xperia Play) manages to pull that off.

If you want an argument, the Pandora is 1/3 the price of a GPD Win. I got mine for 120€ 3 years ago. But that is of course irrelevant because the GPW Win is about 20x more powerful, can play Steam games and runs windows. Which is why neo-/g/ prefers it.
>>

>What are you talking about. Input delay has never been an issue on the GPD Win and will never be fixed on the GPD XD due to the way the framebuffer works on Android.

You said: "I did not sell the GPD Win because of the input delay."
I thought you meant the early units that had the 40ms input delay problem on the controllers.
Obviously you meant XD.

The Win is more locked down than some thinkpads (no libreboot) but less botnet than others (no Intel ME). In fact, the Pandora does not run blob-free either and the Pyra will also require non-free blobs for 3D acceleration.

>That's more like 2/5'ths the price

You can get it for less than 100€ now but it's used so that wasn't a fair comparison to begin with.

>The Pyra is more than double though.

>why do I care so much about devices with Angrybird-tier-CPUs instead of embracing the China?
I wanted a Pandora before the Win was even a thing, never got one though because they sold out and started having delivery issues. I had a N900 in the meanwhile, pretty open ARM device, but now that the Win exist, I don't really feel like the Pyra is worth it. But hey, to each their own.

Got a GPD Win Anon?

I've been looking at them for a while, though as far as build quality go, i hear it's build quality can be pretty chink-y, and in a lot of ways its expensive for what it is. But man i want one.

Tadpole SPARCBook, they manufactured portable UNIX laptops based on just about every major UNIX workstation at the time. They also made DEC Alpha, PA-RISC (HP 9000) and IBM RS/6000 based laptops.

The win is totally worth it if you understand it's limits. It runs a ton of games perfectly fine as long as you adjust the settings. Ive been playing through Skyrim on it pretty well, and a bunch of ps2 and psp games work excellently.
>>
>>61752303
The build quality is not chinki at all for being a cheap device from china, easily rivals DS and PSP in soldness and the parts use are great, like IPS panels and same thumbsticks as the Vita
the QC is shit, but that's why we have resellers

The libretto is amazing.
I wish something like it would come out today.
Best if it would use risc-v

What does "something like" it mean because anything reasonable that would come out resembling this would be berated either for "unusable" form factor or for containing an intel atom.
>>
>>61753894
>or for containing an intel atom
That won't be too bad, modern Atoms are pretty good for most of the things, like YouTube and browsing several tabs. Those Librettos where far slower than actual desktops and laptops of the time too.

huge fucking difference, when it runs X and same desktop managers and the whole Xen suite can be run on Linux, init m8?

>>61754054
I wonder what type of keyboard it uses.
>>
>>61752303
If you want to avoid chink build quality, try GPD Pocket. I just got mine today and it's super solid. You lose the built in joypad, but the build quality is worth it imo.

It's actually decrunching pictures, that takes most of the loading time. Specially in such a big thread.
After I finished recording the webm, I disabled pictures and reloaded the page, then it's pretty much instant, then you can only click on pictures you want to load individually.

It's pretty memory limited, 6MB when the network card is on, 5MB when network driver is loaded and TCP/IP stack is also running. With network disabled it has 10MB.
>>
>>61754082
yeah, because the desktop manager is the most vital portion of the trusted code in an os..
saying it's the same thing because xen can run on linux is like saying hyper-v is the same as esxi

>>
>>61754246
ahahahaha

shut up fucking autist
>>
>>61754246
>hyper-v is the same as esxi
pretty much, hyper-v just runs on the windows kernel
esxi on it's own proprietary one

and I didn't mean that, both are a fucking joke for freetard autists
