Take in count that Coffee Lake will not be compatible with kaby and sky lake chipsets regardless of they using the same socket so you'll have to buy a new motherboard, meanwhile the future Ryzen 7 2800x 7nm will be compatible with AM4 and Zen 1 chipsets.
>>
>>61706852
i didn't buy ryzen yet and i don't have a kaby/skylake cpu so i don't really give a shit
>>
>>61706852
why would you have to take any of that into account when the source for the """""leak""""" is "Chinese forums" and that intel would never give anyone a 7700k at i3 prices if their lives depended on it?
>>
>>61706852
And Ryzen 7 3800x 7nm+ will also be compatible with AM4 and Zen 1 chipsets ;)
>>
>>61706894
and everyone will complain how it Zen 3 doesn't support DDR5 which is will be finalized 2018 and reach mainstream 2020
>>
>>61706917
Zen 2 is coming out in 2018 and Zen 3 is coming out in 2019, by 2020 AMD will probably have AM5 ready with DDR5 and PCI Express 4.0 support.
>>
>>61706892
we already know that the i5 will be 6c/6t so it's basically confirmed that it will be faster than a 7700k
>>

Then I'm sorry for the suckers that bought Zen 1 with only half an year lifetime.

maybe that's where my confusion is. Do mobile i5s still have HT, or did they discontinue that and save it for i7s
>>
>>61706640
Nah it'll be roughly the same as long as all 8 threads are being utilised and same single core performance.
>>
>>61707148
They do. Basically the only difference between i5s and i7s in mobile is that the latter are higher clocked. Except for the specific quadcore parts. Intel's naming convention in the mobile space is confusing as fuck, doubly so because it doesn't really have anything to do with how they name their desktop CPUs except higher is better.

Intel bullied them for accidentally breaking NDA.

Notice how Intel hasn't corrected the record regarding the Coffee Lake not supported on 100 and 200 series motherboards.

Do you realize all Intel mainboard manufacturers are sitting on hundreds of thousands of unsold Intel mainboards because consumers are getting tired of having 500 different motherboards to choose from.
>>
>>61706640
Have you seen the 1600 vs 7800 reviews and the like?

While the 6 cores do better in productivity they both still lose to the 7700K in gaming.

So it's quite possible that i3's will now beat i5's and i7's in gaming simply because they seem optimized for 4/8 configs.

I could be wrong though, it may just be an architecture optimization issue, and they'll do better. It will be interesting to see though.
>>
>>61707148

notebook core i7 are 2core/4thread. They are only 4 core/4thread if they have "HQ" in their name or something like that

clusterfuck to say the least kek
>>
>>61707163
i7 HK/HQ/EQ - 4c/8t
i7 U/Y - 2c/4t

i5 HQ/EQ - 4c/4t
i5 U/Y - 2c/4t

i3 H/U - 2c/4t

Kaby Lake Refresh / Coffee Lake:
i5 U - 4c/8t

What did Intel mean by this
>>
>>61707228
>because they seem optimized for 4/8 configs.
I still don't get why that's the case since consoles are 8 cores.
>>
>>61707413
Consoles reserve cores for console OS and other tasks.
You're most likely going to get 6 cores or so allocated to games.

They are low low performance and low clocked cores.

Heck I'm not even sure if the Jaguar cores are full cores or bulldozer shit.

A 4C8T cpu with high IPC will make up the difference with sheer clockspeed/IPC/HT/SMT
>>
>>61707478
>Heck I'm not even sure if the Jaguar cores are full cores or bulldozer shit.
They're full cores, but designed for netbooks and other low-power stuff. Comparable to atoms, pretty much.
>>
>>61707478
Jaguar cores are full cores. Construction cores =/= cat cores.
>>
>>61707228

you should thank AMD because if Ryzen 3 didn't exist Coffee Lake i3s would have been 2-core shit yet

Multi-core in many cases does not matter indeed.
But when your single core performance depends entirely on your toaster toasting toasts instead of having an competitive IPC, it's kinda like being on the brink of the abyss.
Specially when your rival have quite the potential to increase the IPC as it's a brand new arch, versus your quickly aging 10 year old rerashed shit that you rode because "muh manufacturing process advantage".

>>
>>61707228
The 1600s already match the 7700k at lower CPU clocks when paired with 3200 ram. Ryzen scales with ram speed
>>
>>61708195
>>61708206
The orange slides into a rail on the CPU tray so you never have to handle the sides of CPU or pins. Also plastic melts at 350 degrees and survives under car hoods for a long time

It's like Intel is forcing me to go amd
fuck you Intel I believe on you
Now this fucking z370

If toy rupee is good with gayming I gonna discard you fuck
>>
>>61710610
There is good plastic and bad plastic. Eco green crap plastic cracks, flakes and disintegrates in only a few years, the bad thing is that a lot of new shit uses the bad plastic.
>>
>>61705821
Anyway I bet it's same pinning and shit.
Even z170 have better vrm colling than skx, and they can handle power on those 6 cores, heck official tdp is 95w.

Intel is just jewing to force purchase of new boards. Board vendors are interested too, it's new sales
>>
>>61707328
It means finally ultra low power CPUs will have 4 cores. That is to deal with ryzen
>>
Yeah, I guess I'll be limping along with my E3 1231 V3 until all this clusterfuck is sorted out.

Maybe I should just skip DDR4 altogether, current DDR4 prices have gone up so much, fucking goys not ramping up chip production.

Regularly going over 20GBs of my 32GB memory so next build will be at least 64GB.
>>
>>61710694
It should be stuff designed for wide temperatures considering it sits on a cpu, epyc is going to use the same stuff and I doubt enterprise will take that shit. And if they want to save money on plastic why not save it on indium solder as well.

What the fuck are Intel thinking by releasing a fucking 4C/4T i5 HEDT processor when they are gonna release a 4C/8T i3 in a couple of months?

Will we start seeing yearly HEDT chipset upgrades like we do on Intel mainstream? X399 Intel, now with support for 8th generation core i3 processors? Uwot
