Lineage OS , is lineage OS private, no data mining? I heard lineage OS doesn't actually implement security patches in an effective way.
Would it be a good idea to put lineage on my s7 edge? What can expected in terms of performance loss?

You'll probably suffer a 10% hit in general performance and a 60% hit in camera quality. Knickknacks like Wi-Fi Direct may or may not work.
As for security, it all depends on who's maintaining Lineage OS for your particular model. If Pajeet and Ramesh are in charge, you're gonna have a bad time.

So will there be data mining like Google does?
>>61704053
You'll have to put in some work to avoid it. Lots of popular apps like Twitter, Soundcloud, and Uber require Google Play Services (which is turbobotnet). There's stuff like microG that fakes what Play Services provides but it doesn't always work. It's going to be a challenge unless you're a proper basement-dwelling virgin who spends 12 hours a day wanking to gooktoons and doesn't use popular apps.

I don't use any of those popular apps. I do use uber sometimes, but that's it. Will I be good then?

>gooktoons
Yeah I'm stealing that one. Thx bby.

>private, no data mining
not even close. it's still based on android, made by google. Lineage is just a continuation of cyanogenmod whose goal is not privacy but to port open source (NOT FREE) android to non open source android phones.
Having a google account alone traces your location and lists it all nicely with a timeline on your device monitor.

What if I turn off location service and permissions, and use a VPN. Google always estimates wrong location for me.

I'm sick of this BS, should I give in and buy an iphone8?
>>61705303
That's what I'm gonna do. Sucks that iphonevanessa and Kevin are better protected against the botnet.
We need Clover for iOS tho. QUICK

it's up to you how much you trust google to have their apps collecting data without your consent.
Your best bet is to replace all google apps with open source alternatives

Technology was a mistake, we need to go back to living in caves.

Yes, compared to the stock rom from samsung it's a god sent gift but overall, you will get some drawbacks, camera won't work fully due to pajeets not knowing how to properly build drivers not implement stuff and package it well.
Lastly you will get random problems where they will say it's your fault and not theirs and ask you to leave a thanks after their reply in xda.

I can't even shitpost in private, why live
I will def buy an iPhone 7 when 8 releases.
Installed it and had echo during Skype, wire and messenger calls. Looks and feels better than stock but that is a dealbreaker.
