>compress 5 folders with 7zip normal settings
>compress the 5 7zip archives with 7zip normal settings
>new archive is 50% smaller
is 7zip normal setting absolute trash or what, how the hell can it be half the size by doing the compression twice?
does it take twice as long to unzip?
Second time around you also compressed the file names of the folders, trading away the ability to see them without decompressing.
What happens if you compress the third time?
How big is it if you compress the 5 original folders directly into 1 archive?

It largely depends on the entropy of your files. I've compressed SQL DB backups to 2% of their original size on normal.

300KB smaller than the dual compressed archive.

Genuinely would like to know.

Try with best settings
