Today I installed an M.2 SSD in my iBook (pic related). It went from a three minute boot to under a minute, which is pretty fucking impressive considering it's using an IDE interface

hard drive mfgr's have a long term plan and don't want ssd's cannibalizing their market overnight. if you could buy a 1tb ssd for say twice the cost per GB of a spinner, you would. keeping the cost up ensures spinning drives keep selling. it's a win/win situation until they decide to slow down spinner production.
