If you're not going ryzen with amd dor gaming then intel is the only real choice.
Any sandy bridge to current that's over maybe 3.4ghz will stomp fx, and older amd in most games.

I don't know about $100, but you can easily find a business prebuilt with a locked i5/i7/xeon for $200.
With some of the prebuilds you'll need an adaptor for a psu that can take a decent gpu. Those are cheap, so maybe a used business pc with at least an i5 @ 3.4+, reuse your ddr3, hdd/ssd, add an adaptor for reusing your current gpu/psu. Sell off your other parts?
