I just took pages 1-10 of boards.4chan.org/g/ and concatenated them all into this bitmap.
It's art.
MODS
Can we have like a 16k version or st please, so we can actually zoom in and shit.
>>61544547
It looks like one of those magic eye things.
How do you reverse it?
>>61544579
Larger res

Looks like a Marc Rothko painting
>it's just noise
Seems right to me.
>>61544700
save the OP png as a 16-bit bitmap (r6 g5 b6)
then, tail the last 1197187 bytes.
>>61544709
I fucking love you
>>61544547
How?
I see only greenish noise

what's up
>>61544547
Good job, but posting images with data encoded into them is against the rooroos.

Use the below 138 bytes (in binary obviously) at the beginning of any other binary file (max size 2000000 bytes, for a combined file size of 2000138)
Once you have concatenated that with your 2000000 file, load the resulting bitmap into an image editor like gimp and export it to PNG.

These take too long to load, can anyone reupload as jpg?
>>61544909
That's just silly.
>>61544913
If you want a 5MB lossy piece of shit, sure.
>>61544911
so what is original of OP image?
>>61544547
would make a great album cover
>>61544955
literally just plopped the header into a file and then:
curl -s http://boards.4chan.org/g/{1..10} >> header.bmp
then loaded the bmp into gimp and exported it to png.
>>61544913
Here you go. This is an excellent example of why PNG beats the hell out of JPEG.
>>61544909
Doesn't matter, rulefag. Gookmoot can die in a fire, datamining ricenigger.

Some file formats produce interesting patterns when they are saved as bitmap data.

Explain in further detail?
>>61547093
I used a header which I got from a plain white 16-bit BMP, without the rest of the file which was only zeros, then I sent the output of curl to the file, so an image viewer reads the bytes as color information (based on the header I used)
Loaded the bmp into gimp, and saved it as a PNG. A PNG file keeps exact bitmaps and uses lossless compression, so each byte is saved exactly the same in the file. Therefore if you load the PNG into GIMP and save it again as a 16-bit BMP, you can just tail the last 200000 bytes and get the original message.
>>61544909
Not the same. The rule says 'additional data', like data appended to the end.
>>61547140
rather, the rest of the file was only FFFF.. etc
>>61547140
So you put the header into the output after you didcurl -s http://boards.4chan.org/g/{1..10} >> header.bmp
You can do all kinds of weird shit. I chopped the data from a bitmap drawing into 30 byte segments, and sorted them all in hex. This is the original
>>61547795
And this is the result of sorting the bitmap data in 30 byte segments. Look at the bottom of the image. The bottom comes first in bitmaps.
>>61547818
And here's some softcore porn, sorted in 30 byte segments.
>>61547915
censor that shit, this is a blue board

Find a way to use most common words scraped to somehow filter/shuffle the noise to make a pattern. Then do that every week and make a slideshow showing the change in /g/ by season. Probably easy to script but idk how to implement
>>61548511
neat idea.. but that sounds like a big pain in the ass, and the result will probably just look like tv static. I think a word cloud would be much better. One that dynamically changes the size of the words by most used, with daily data collected over a year.

It could probably be done... Saving the thread so that I might try it on my 4 day weekend. Good thread OP

Definitely make a webm. Interested to see the result.
Ha funny, I just did the same thing this morning. Pic related is how it rendered.
