I'm looking for a programmable miniature keyboard which can fire off keypress combinations or can be programmed to specific keys independently of software.
This is basically going to be used to control the modes of a KVM switch that will bounce M+KB input/video output around several different computers.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
I've been looking at things like this but it needs software to run.
Alternatively, the smallest USB keyboard you know of would work in a pinch.

That's a thought but given that this is for work I'm trying not to put any strange devices into the internal systems.
Have you considered an external numpad

Yes but unfortunately my KVM is not that flexible in what it allows for hotkey input

This is basically what I want but with the ability to choose what the keys are.
halp.

4 keys inc usb?

Manual seems to say that each key can replay a macro of keystrokes taught to it when previously plugged into a proper machine

I wish, but I need it to work independently of any one computer.
This seems to requires software running on a single computer.

Where do you see that? From here it looks to me like you could plug it into a USB on a KVM, and the keystrokes would then be passed through, accomplishing your goal

You know on a closer examination it looks like you're right, this guy has a "hardware mode" that saves the keypresses in the Xkeys hardware.
Well I've never spent $100 on 4 keys before, but it's something to think about when I've got some cash to burn.

Looks like they also make ones specifically for KVM usage:

that feel when you will never control a 128 way KVM

I'll take a look at these, but just from the price perspective it may be easier to go with a cheapo little keyboard.

They're basically just for datacenters.
