What e-reader should I get? Are kindles good or should I go with

Comics are going to be a pain to read on these devices, and so will PDFs unless you shell out for those crazy expensive large screens.

For most models you can install KOReader which can help out a lot.

Kobos are more flexible while still being high-quality. The recent Aura one may be your best bet here as the screen is larger, bezelless while not being stupidly impractical. Android e-readers are pretty good for customization and support apks obviously. Inkbooks or Boyue models are decent.

Get a kobo if you're not a fan of Amazon. They're equally good hardware wise, and they support many more formats so you don't have to fuck around with converting them to Amazon's garage ebook format.

They also have expandable storage.

PDFs work fine so long as the pdf's text is large enough to read it without doing zooming/scrolling/etc. Because zooming and scrolling on e-ink doesn't really work. Well it does but it's not nice.
