I wouldn’t. Microsoft is a 1,000 ton gorilla, and too big to be bullied by a small subset of open source tools. If they felt in any way threatened by removing Windows support, they‘d crush GNU in a matter of days. Also they wrote a Windows kernel driver that translates enough of the Linux system
call surface to run a decent subset of Linux applications. So not only do they not need Windows support. They could probably take it a step farther and just create a new, better, compiler from scratch.

I only use Windows for MS Office and Notepad++.
But I only use MS Office for my resume and opening other peoples documents really.

The Linux alternatives I use are Google Drive,
which has some nice collaboration features which I use for my own business, and Atom, but for some reason it has less search functions and a worse interface.

Windows still benefits from the "standard OS" image they built with previous versions of windows but in fact didnt really do anything great since windows 7. Now they try to hop on the datamining for ads train but take it a little to far earning a lot of bad publicity. In combination with the way too obvious shilling within the OS they are completely destroying the trustworthy image they have. They might still make le monneh now but they rly have to change fast or theyll slowly build up to their own demise
