Daily reminder that a 14 year old Power Mac G5's are better computers than modern and gay PCs.

I have one of these. It's useless.
Just gut it and made it ATX mountable, or put an aquarium in there.
>>61379740
I've noticed those threads for a while now.
In what way OP? In performance and efficiency, obviously not.
>>61379740
Maybe if the only OS available wasn't *BSD distros.
Or broken Linux distros.
Also no hardware acceleration for decoding anything.
>>61379740
the fucking wifi works well on them at least.
why cant pcs master this
>>61379892
?
Ubuntu Mate runs on PPC.
>>61379911
>shilling for an Apple product
>that Apple doesn't make anymore
PowerPC Macs also have a FOSS BIOS option.
>>61379933
Yeah but you get no official support it's always from the community.
>>61379980
What is official support?
Unless you're running RHEL, nearly all Linux support is community support.

One cheap android is better

>In what way OP? In performance and efficiency, obviously not.
Everything.
Macs have always been ahead of it's time.
God I used to hate those fucking G5's the fucking liquid coolers would leak and fuck the boards...had that happen to at least 2 of those things that came into my shop...
>>61379740
>worse than Pentium 4's
>>61379740
If by better, you mean runs up your power bill more than most PCs of the era, sure.
I still have mine, better to keep it in my closet than sell it to some faggot who wants to make a shitty gayming build.
My 2009 mini is faster than this. Nice nostalgia tho.

Not only you fucked up the spoiler but it doesn't even work on this board.
Back to >>>/v/
It's a feature :^)
Honestly though, the overall aesthetic of the computer was really nice and the case still looks modern 14 years later; which can't really be said for a lot of computers from the time.

I have a 2004 mini that I overclocked to 1.5ghz
It's pretty toasty.
>>61379740
G5 is testimony at how shit RISC is versus CISC
>>61379872
Far from useless. If it wasn't for one program I use that doesn't support PowerPC, I'd use it. Well actually it was leaked a few months ago so it's my own fault for not learning how to port it. I'll certainly go back if I get it ported.
>>61379892
>I'd have to use a BSD to have a modern OS on a PowerMac G5
You say that like it's a bad thing.
>>61381018
>power bill
It costs me ~$10/mo to have my dp PowerMac G5 running 24/7
>>61381262
Even x86 is RISC internally, all instructions pass through a CISC to RISC converter
