I have tried a lot distributions but almost only ubuntu or ubuntu based distros give me decent result on my eyes.

I don't want stick with Ubuntu cuz I don't like gnome and the weirdo things that they are doing.

you want Linux Mint Cinnamon edition. It's based on Ubuntu so you will have all the things that make Ubuntu the most popular distro, with the added benefit of Mint's world famous Cinnamon DE

I have tried almost all flavors.
xfce -> tearing
lxde -> abandoned
mate -> bloated af
kde -> bugged
bungie -> I haven't tried it cuz they are moving to qt.

kde neon solves that bugs but I must use that ancient lts. I'll read more about void :o

people will bully you on /g/ no matter what distro you use. there is no discernable advantage to using a less complete distro for someone like me. If "bleeding edge" is something you want then you probably aren't starting this thread, so either an official flavor like Xubuntu or something like Mint is your best bet to replace windows

I had extreme tearing issues with XFCE (debian), but after installing Compton, there were zero problems. Compton is in the ofocial repository of Manjaro, so nothing "external" (assuming that "internal" means from the creators of the distrobution).

>>61326323

>xfce -> tearing
True but compton fixes that problem and just takes 5 minutes to setup and you can forget about it.
>lxde -> abandoned
Isn't there lxqt? but yeah, lxde is pretty barebones.
>mate -> bloated af
I don't think is bloated and also is perfect for the people who still wants to use the old
>kde -> bugged
I currently use plasma 5 and it's pretty comfy. It's true that it can be more polished but in general since 5.8 it's not hard for me to recommend it and the following versions added some nice features.
>bungie -> I haven't tried it cuz they are moving to qt.
I really want to try this one because i've heard good things about it but right now i don't have the time.

>kde neon solves that bugs but I must use that ancient lts. I'll read more about void :o
Depends on your needs. LTS version of ubuntu are the recommended ones for most users because most of the time they're solid and provides a predictable environment that can work fine a lot of years but if you need newer software for everything and not only for those programs where you can use PPAs or self contained formats like flatpak or snap then a rolling may be a good idea for you. Neon is pretty good if you need the stability of an LTS for everything else but you want the latest software from KDE, it's a very good balance IMO.

*I don't think is bloated and also is perfect for the people who still wants to use the old gnome 2.
>>
>>61325077
This has been happening to me too, on a daily basis lately, especially with mp4 files... Ive started dual booting with mint cinnamon and after a little customization its pretty comfy

Once they finish Reaper for Linux, ill have no reason to keep 10 around.

I also tried xubuntu but was having issues with it and my rx480 for some reason

fellow musicfag. amplitube, reason and ableton are 3 more reasons I keep windows around. linux sucks for music production. don't forget that jack is ridiculously hard to use
>>
>>61325618
Budgie is moving it's core to QT but will still be supporting the GTK framework, no reason not to use budgie

It's good

My windows 10's search bar keep crashing after 3 or 4 letters, thanks microsoft! It's a good thing you based a basic search on a piece of shit personal "assistant" that probably runs on a neural net and you have no fuckinf idea how to fix.
>>
>>61325077
Hackintosh
>>
>>61325077
ZorinOS or ZorinOS Lite
Kubuntu or Xubuntu if you want official support by canonical.

>>61325736
Don't go with Neon. It's "stable" release also crashes once a week and it's crash report is useless. Use Kubuntu instead.
The crashes are mostly visual and will just freeze your DE for a second after which everything will be fine. But there's a type of a crash which removes the titlebars and window buttons from your windows and makes them almost unusable. It was very annoying and the reason I moved away from KDE Neon.

>>61325618
You can remove tearing from Xfce by installing a compositor. A default compositor would make this DE 10/10.
LXDE is abandoned and, honestly, worse than Xfce. LXQt is nowhere near being usable. Mate is just as shit as LXDE.
KDE is pretty good since Plasma. I'd recommend it to any winfag. My second recommendation would be Xfce, simply because screen tearing is unacceptable in 2017. The fact that it's easily fixed makes it even worse. That aside, I still use Xfce anyway.
>>
so windows 10 sucks and I keep having to do fresh installs every so often. Is there a program I could use that automatically backs up installed programs? I normally save the .exe files but that takes too long and it's getting annoying at this point.
>>
>>61327869
Make a second partition and install all software there. Any decent software will properly work across multiple installations.
>>
>>61325219
background Image please?
>>
You can try Solus
https://solus-project.com
Modern UI
Good font rendering
Good package manager
Noob-friendly
Out of the box experience
Fairly light amount of RAM usage
Recent software and updates everyday

Try it on a usb-stick, it is just so good. You can also use Ubuntu budgie if you wanna, but it's heavier and with more bugs, but you have more software since there is canonical behind.
>>
Why would your Win 10 change anything by itself, it never did this to me.

The primary infinality repos have been compromised twice in the last few years. Anyone telling you to use that repo is an idiot. It's no better than installing random executables on Windows.

>>61328303

>>61325077
Ubuntu and Ubuntu based distros are the only ones that have decent font rendering. They can ignore some font rendering patents because they're not based in the United States or Europe. The version of Freetype they use is very heavily patched.

A few of the related patents expired last year so font rendering in other distros has improved a little bit but it's still pretty bad. Infinality applies a few fixes but nothing as comprehensive as Ubuntu's patched Freetype. Unfortunately, none of them will give you font rendering as good as OS X.
