I posted this last night, but got no good responses:

I'm not going to say why this happened, but lets just say that I deleted a large Windows partition in Gparted and now my computer won't even start. I try to go into the boot menu, and nothing happens. I try to go into BIOS menu, and nothing happens. I even tried to boot directly from a Linux Mint USB, and nothing happens.
I can't remove the hard drive from the laptop, so I don't know what to do. Please help!

Pic related is similar to what it looks like when the boot freezes.

UEFI? Looks like you'll need to take out the hard drive. I recall an issue with Loonix where it could nuke your computer and render it unusable similar to what you're experiencing.

>but lets just say that I deleted a large Windows partition in Gparted
Why?

Anyway, go to BIOS, change boot order to your USB.

Im pretty short of cash right now and im considering selling my PSP Go. Honestly I very seldomly use it and the only game Ive actually enjoyed was Danganronpa. Ive heard the snes emulators work like shit, and I cant think of any exclusive worth keeping it for. Keeping it just for nes and gameboy emulators is kinda a dumb idea. Still I have a hard time letting material things go, im not a hoarder tho. So should I sell it? Can anyone recommend me some good exclusive titles to see if I should keep it?

As in thinner or smaller?

Single slot GPUs are rare because they are not good enough at cooling.
Single fan GPUs are bad in general because they lack VRM cooling and use a shitty small heatsink.

>>61307657
Well you have to reset your BIOS/CMOS somehow, one thing is not being able to enter to your OS and other is not being able to enter to BIOS.

Leave F2 pressed when you turn it on.
>>
>>61307688
You mean get a new HDD? Because if this HDD is dead, then I'll just buy a new laptop.
>>
>>61307705
I did leave F2 pressed. Nothing happens.
>>
>>61307707
Its impossible that you killed your HDD by deleting a partition.

You just deleted the Windows partition, but not your boot partition so its trying to boot to the non existent windows partition.
Nothing is damaged, just fucked boot order.
>>
Is the amazon prime membership on sale on prime day? I don't wanna pay $100
>>

That's what I think, but nothing is happening. No boot menu, no BIOS. The order of booting had the USB as the primary boot, and even that doesn't do anything.
>>
>>61307707
Nah, take it out and fix it on an other pc or get an connector

>>
>>61307745
Well you could reset the CMOS (removing the internal button battery and inserting it again).

Or try to enter BIOS somehow, dont press it as soon you see it, leave F2 or ESC pressed since you turn your PC on.

Bonjour Mr. Anderson.
>>
>>61307923
Well, SEO is old-school /snakeoil/. Essentially, SEO itself is ensuring that your site is crawled by search engines correctly and that you show up in search results. You might bid on keywords to show up first, but that's pretty much it.

You could be using your time more wisely on Freelancer instead of 6 hrs a day doing almost nothing.

Python or HTML5 for a not CS oriented person?

I understand that Python is a scripting oriented language, but if someone would really want to they can program more complex programs too.

HTML5 is shilled to be capable of supporting 2D games and stuff, but can it actually do tasks like pulling data out of online pages or files for analysis or anything that'd require more than displaying pictures and text.

Still, HTML5 is probably more portable?

I have a very stupid question, I admit I'm tech illiterate.
I hope somebody can answer my question though.

I have a sim card that I've had for quite a while now (like years), I've had this on jailbroken phones, I had this when downloading stupid stuff on my phone like apps that spammed ads or froze up my phone, visited websites that locked up my phone etc.

I now have a new phone, but I wonder if it is best to buy a new sim card maybe because perhaps there are any virusses or something on the sim card?
Is this possile?

What would you guys say?
Answers much appreciated!

I was being a little lazy when recommending Freelancer, it has its own headaches. A personal network reaps greater rewards; sites for local businesses or non-profits usually garner more leads if you get into the right network of business owners. My brother used to do this type of work on the side for years, and it started from some hair care products site he did on a whim.

I seem to have a hardware failure, symptoms are
>no post, no beeps, no video, power cycles
>if cpu fan is connected to CPU_FAN, it spins very slowly, sometimes it fails to spin up at all during a power cycle
>if cpu fan is connected to any SYS_FAN it operates normally, but still no post/no beep
>short beeps without ram sticks (ram failure as per mobo beep codes)
>same with another, 100% working PSU, albeit it has low wattage (350 vs 550, but I suppose 350 should be enough for i5 3470 on bare motherboard)

I have only PSU, CPU, CPU Fan and 1 ram of stick connected to the motherboard right now, and have the mobo outside of the case on a wooden desk, and running it by shorting PWR with a screwdriver. I have two sticks but swapping them out has no effect.

I'm kinda pulling my hairs now, if I had a CPU failure, would I still get RAM failure from motherboard? How do I diagnose the problem further without buying new PSU/CPU/Mobo? Does low voltage on CPU_FAN mean motherboard failure (I haven't tested it yet with a multimeter)? Can mobo refuse to post without cpu fan spinning up properly?

So last night, I came back to my computer when it was in sleep mode, tried resuming, and got no signal. Fans were still spinning, lights on, and even heard the device recognition sound after trying to enter my password. (to check if it was still booting, just without display.
I reinstalled my graphics driver following this, and updated BIOS. Only change that I can think of making before this is installing a .NET framework windows update.

Got it again today, and only thing I've found to get around it is a complete reboot. (via removing power by PSU switch or unplugging)
I looked around on google a bit, and people were saying it had something to do with CPU voltage, which I can see some credence to. After flashing the BIOS, I turned on MSI's OC Genie, and while my temps remained constant, the fan went to 100%, which it hadn't before. It's small, but I figure it's worth noting.

I have a desktop that I want to format and use as my primary workstation, It's just got a full hard drive and I want to empty it and keep the contents but I'm not sure the best way to do it.

I hear that external hard drives corrupt and break very easily, so should I just buy a brand new hard drive for my desktop and keep the current one in storage? It's ~10 years old though so I'm also worried about this one failing.

Wat do?

What's a good way to download all images hotlinked from a forum?

I'm looking to download all the images that are linked in forums. I've tried Wget / WinWget / HTTrack, but can't get anything to work. Each subforum has anywhere from 2 to 100 pages of threads, but I'm only looking to download the images from the first post of each thread.
The forum requires a login, and uses IP.Board 3.4.6.
What's the best way to go about accomplishing this?
Here's the site I'd like to download all images from - http://new.freefakers.com/forums/\

The site requires a login which makes using jdownloader / htttrack / etc not work properly.

>>61312315
>Wat do?
Don't trust any single drive, if your data matters, make sure you have proper backups, and if downtime is important, consider using multiple drives for redundancy. External and old drives aren't that different in terms of reliability rates to change that.
>>
>>61312214
Static key setup is easier if you need to use DO as a proxy, but probably won't do if you need a fully fledged VPN
https://openvpn.net/index.php/open-source/documentation/miscellaneous/78-static-key-mini-howto.html
>>
>>61312315
External drives don't "corrupt or break easily", but they're prone to that since they're usually being tossed around a lot, even though they usually are better protected than usual drives
If you don't need mobility then just buy a normal hdd

Also what >>61312373 said, if the data is really important than you need to have one or two (to avoid perfect storm) copies of it in different places. Having two copies of the same data in same PC does not constitute as a backup.

I just got a Huion G220 drawing tablet and my issue is that when I plug it into my Asus G73JW Laptop there's 1 particular problem I run into: windows deselect every so often.

Which doesn't mess me up when I'm drawing, but when I'm gaming it can minimize and unselect the windows I'm using which can cause a LOT of issues. I have 2 options to plug it into my laptop, an hdmi cable and a vga cable. both have the same issue. I came here as a last effort to fix this as I would like to keep my laptop plugged into my tablet 24/7 for gaming and drawing.

Windows 7, 64 bit, 8gb memory and 1980x1080 resolution.

I've tried changing resolution, doesn't fix it.

Speedy requests appreciated.

crossposting

Ive got a script running on localhost using XAMPP that requires accessing it in browser using https.

Now when I do this in a browser I get SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER
But I just click "advanced" and make an exception. Which is what I expected to happen according to the instructions I followed to set up the certificate.

Now I want to access this same script from another machine on the same LAN. When I do this instead of UNKOWN_ISSUER I get:
err_connection_closed
With no advanced option. No option to make an exception. It doesnt even bring up the Cert or say anything about it. But when I access it from the second machine over LAN with plain http, it doesnt give any errors. But like I said I NEED to use https.

What do?

>connect phone in charge mode

The problem is whenever I change mode from the phone the host "grabs" it and the guest can't see it anymore. For example I set up the usb filter correctly, connect it in charge only mode and the guest sees it correctly then I change to mtp and the guest can't see it anymore. If I connect it in mtp and change to charge only then the guest can't see it.

>>
>>61316068
m.2 is just a form factor like 3.5 or 2.5. You're probably asking about NVMe drives, which use PCIe lanes for stupid high bandwidth. NVMe drives are relatively useless for faster boot and load times, because the storage bottleneck there was removed just with SATA SSDs. They're only useful for reading/writing XBOXHUEG files quickly like in video editing.

All that said, having your boot SSD laying flat on your mobo under an expansion card is pretty comfy, and frees up your drive cages for a storage array. I'd reccomend getting one, but the SATA ones are typically the same price as their 2.5" counterparts; mine was in fact a dollar cheaper.

I use streamlink to watch Twitch streams, but lately it gives me this error

I went to the URL, and I have no fucking idea what I'm reading, let alone how to do what it says on windows. What's the easiest way to stop this from happening?

Install DynDNS client.
Set up DynDNS account.
Set up CNAME on your domain to point to your new DynDNS record.
Set up firewall to forward inbound services of interest, or do sick Avahi shit.
The last one is usually the kicker.

I have an i7 7700k, should I Oc it without water cooling? The current fan on cpu is a CRYORIG - H5 Ultimate 76.0 CFM CPU Cooler
>>
>>61316586
Its a mid tier HSF, but you can OC with it.
You dont need watercooling, its usually just as good as air cooling.
>>
>>61316546
appreciate the attempt
Seems it's a known issue since the twitch plugin isn't even supposed to check certificates and that message should be suppressed anyway.

Version-specific bug fixed by installing a nightly build.

HSF = Heatsink fan.

>5GHz+
Yeah if you want to go full retard with the voltages and make your CPU work at 85-90°C.

Do you really need heavy overclocking? what are you doing that maxes your CPU?
Go for something light like 4.7-4.8GHz.

I've wired my house with cat6 cable, installed and tested the ports. I'm pretty sure I know the answer but I'm going to ask anyway.

Router only has 4 outlets, so I need a switch. Would I be better off going one 8 port switch to one outlet, or 2 x 4 port switches, into two outlets (to my understanding, halving the load on the port, therefore better speeds?).

Cheers in advance. Probably seem an idiot, but when you don't know
>>
>>61317027
>I'm pretty sure I know the answer
Depends if you expect multiple lines to the switch to be near saturated I suppose.

I've been trying to get into stenography today, I created a message in a .jpeg and used CoagulaLight to convert it into sound, my problem is that decoding it (using Sonic Visualizer) makes it blurry and unreadable
How do I make readable hidden messages in sound files?
>>
>>61317345

tried that, and the message degraded halfway through, or the message wasn't as long as it needed to be.

You still have those sealed bags that the HDD's come with? It's best to store them inside those bags, if you dont then any sort of clean bag will do, just dont get dust on it.

If I want to move my Windows 10 OS from my 2 tb HDD to my 256gb SSD (and DON'T want to clone) do I just unplug the SATA from my HDD, plug it into the SDD, and Windows 10 will install when I boot up?
>>
>>61317464
>If you're trying to fix this without buying new hardware then I dont think you'll get far, sounds to me your mobo is kill
I think about getting a POST card but I have zero expierence with them, but they're extreemely cheap. Apparently I need to find POST codes for my motherboard first, to make any use of the POST card.

I'm in denial but indeed it sounds like a mobo is kill, I don't think I have another LGA1155 mobo to test it out, and I don't really want to buy another old motherboard -just- to try it out

>>61308206
Is your sister cute? How about you help her to clean her computer from malware?
In any case, no, smart tv or xbox should not get infected because they run different operating systems and are on different architectures
Technically it is possible to write malware than infects all kinds of devices, but I don't think it usually happens because it's a lot of work, and malware usually targets specific device group.

>unplug the SATA from my HDD, plug it into the SDD, and Windows 10 will install when I boot up
Uh, I don't think this will happen, why would it happen?

Most likely you'll have to plug in both SSD and HDD do a fresh install on SSD

Why the HDD? I'm planning on formatting it and have no intention of cloning.

I want to do a clean Windows 10 install on the SDD, but I have no idea where to start. Some people say I need to do it via the ISO file via a USB, but then I'm not sure if it will ask for a key.
>>
>>61317732
>I'm not sure if it will ask for a key
Even if it does you can just skip it and enter it later after you have installed. Or never.

When I fullscreen video, not just Youtube, I can see the window or desktop behind it around the edges. This only happens on my second monitor and both monitors are 1920x1080, though they aren't the same make/model.

Why does this happen? Pic related is what i'm talkin about, zoomed on the right side too.

Hi. I'm looking for selling a high value software but if I do it like usually it would spread in the market, so I can sell only one time.
The idea I had is making a closed device like a laptop where the software works, without network connection, without being able of putting it out of the laptop, if you remove the HD it deletes. Is that possible?
