What comes after digital?
first there was analog and then digital. now what
Quantum
Is there anything bad with digital?
>>61307180
Quantum computing isn't going mainstream anywhere.
>>61307207
Hey it took 70 years for digital to go mainstream

is there anything bad with analog?
>>61307218
There were substantial reasons for digital adoption. Analog computing just couldn't compete.
>>61307223
>little or no redundancy
>high bandwith requirements
>always scales linearly
>analog rot

There are substantial reasons for adoption of quantum.

and once it actually works there will be more than substantial reasons for quantum adoption
we're quickly approaching the minimum possible die size for silicon, so if we continue at this rate we'll be seeing CPUs getting bigger and bigger, with mobile performance coming to a screeching halt
I guess we might end up switching to something like carbon nanotubes first, but a completely new medium is all but inevitable at this point

>screeching halt
phones will be running crysis (ultra/modded) before silicon progress stops
