Who writes this single threaded garbage? Why do anons go crazy over emacs, when it is complete garbage. If you want to actually get something done why don't you use vi?
Do you think vi isn't also single threaded?
>>61272828
>>61272828
vi isn't trying to be an emulator for an OS
>>61272793
What are benefits of multithreaded text editors, beside of increased RAM consumption?
>>61272939
The UI doesn't lock up during a computationally heavy operation like a text transformation on a very large file
>>61272964
Well what are you supposed to do during the transformation?
Anything you'd do could possibly conflict with the changes that are made during the heavy operation anyway
>>61272939
The user interface doesn't lockup when doing things like semantic auto completion.
>>61272793
Give it some time anon. Soon you'll see yourself unable to leave emacs.
>>61272793
Vi is also a "single threaded garbage", you fucking idiot
>>61273075
Keep typing when the editor gathers autocompletion results in the background.
>>61272939
Well, with the huge amount of things emacs can do multi threading would be useful. Mine gets locked for a bit every time when creating latex previews for my math notes in org-mode. (think thousands of calls to latex/imagemagick cropping).

Could you like.... NOT? Like oh my gosh

That's why I use Sublime.
>autists praising IDEs over terminal based text editors
Nobody but absolute faggots want to use these pieces of trash, it's like you idiots never use ssh
>>61274045
Yeah because vscode doesn't botnet all your code and logs it
>>61274045
yeah, because booting up an IDE to change a line out of config file on remote server is always such a joy

stop sucking rob's concurrent dick and kys
There is no good alternative to emacs, though.
It's great if you want to do all you text work (coding, writing, composing an e-mail, etc.) in one program and not use mouse at all.
