>The prices of PCs, smartphones, and tablets are going up, with higher component prices to blame. Shortages in DRAM, flash, batteries and displays are hitting buyers in the wallet.
>Minor relief is in sight next year when prices of memory and NAND flash—which is used in SSDs—will start to gradually decline. But prices will plummet big time in 2019, predicted Jon Erensen, research director for semiconductors at Gartner.
Wew lad. I can('t) wait.

I'm glad I didn't fall for the meme
Not gonna be building my rig for a while but I literally bought my ram today. The prices are already high and I don't want to wait for them to get even higher.

>have to wait 2 years for proper 1TB SSD to hit <$100 price range
I just hope my current HDD/SSD lasts long enough.

If you're able to, it might be worth buying a backup now in case something happens. I'm sure HDD prices will skyrocket for no reason along with all of this.

I did, all it does is take me to Google's home screen and sits there.. the Google-fu button might be broken at my end.

Mid range 1TB ssd's regularly go on sale for less than $270, which is a pretty acceptable price. There's not really any need to go bigger than that when you can easily just have a separate HDD for media, unless you're autistic about drive failures

I bought a 2x4 kit in October, thinking I could just pick up another 2x4 if I needed the memory.
A week later prices shot up. Fuck me I should have gotten the 16GB kit.
