Most of it's Ruby...
You can no longer argue Ruby is just some retard scripting lang for begginers only used for Ruby on Rails.

I like how the NES emulator is slow as fuck. There are undergrad scheme implementations built in a weekend that are legitimately faster than Ruby.
>>61222794
Ruby is a wonderful language to use, a joy to program in. It is indeed not however, a very fast langauge.
Speed really isn't the most important these days, the most important is getting stuff done, the langauge is generally not the bottleneck.
>>61222794
Yeah, Ruby is not known for being fast. You shouldn't use it for performance intensive tasks, such as emulating another CPU. Nonetheless, it makes for a good benchmark for upcoming performance improvements.
>>61223060
There's no good reason to pick a language that is so incredibly inefficient when other languages are much faster, use way less memory and are just as fast to develop in.
The time for Ruby has past. We have much better options now.

Dynamic typing is objectively awful.
>>61223156
Dynamic typing is faster and easier to work with.
Of course statically typed languages are perhaps clearer and catches errors early, so less run time errors, but other than the lack of these, what exactly is so very awful about it.
>>61222617
i'll argue it's a dead scripting language then

> you can no longer argue
This implies that ruby is getting more and more traction. In pretty sure it isn't, it peaked with rails and now node is eating its lunch.
You can no longer argue js is just some retreats scripting lang for beginners only used for the web.

i want everyone who prattles about beauty and elegance to drown in C++ template metaprograms
