I want to get away from BOTNET 10 on my desktop. What's the best linux distro for modern deskto hardware?

Gentoo

what
Debian or Fedora, depends on what you want to do with it.
>>61221451
say goodbye to your games as well then fgt.
debian + steam
>>61221451
Ubuntu is winning this race, but if you feel venturous you can try Arch.

Why tho? Do you want to do something illegal? Are you a pedo?
>>61221451
Havent tried steam, but humble bundle, and Gog installers are pretty good in Mint, Ubuntu, and Debian.

GPU passthrough with AMD when ryzen gets apus is the way to go
Literally any distro will work on modern hardware
No decent drivers
No games except indie shit
Sure anon I really wish o could also game on Linux I bet it would be faster on Linux kernel/scheduler with opengl/vulkan but no one is interested.

>No decent drivers
Nvidia proprietary, and AMD open source drivers are decent.
>No games except indie shit
Enough games work in wine, and more ports are available now.

Unfortunately most games give up some performance, but at least they are available as an option now.

Kubuntu, ZorinOS, ZorinOS Lite for your typical winfag.
Ubuntu, Xubuntu, openSUSE otherwise.

Here and now an intel iGPU just werks for passthrough.
>>61221451
if you are hardcore (i.e. you know how to read a wiki) try arch linux
>>61221451
is it your first time? Ubuntu. Then you can stay in Ubuntu or try something else.
Linux is the same, do not follow the Arch/Gentoo meme.
If you need a more recent application use AppImage.
>>61225024
Some day everything will be on AppImages and common distros will be no more, mark my words.
>>61221451
Basically anything that's still maintained and has the right drivers. I recommend Debian with XFCE if you know what you're doing, or Ubuntu Budgie for beginners.
