Tell me, why haven't you installed gentoo yet?
btw, don't tell us you are a retarded, we already know it.
When I got to the part where you configure the kernel, I didn't know what the fuck I was doing and the documentation wasn't detailed enough for my autistic mind to understand
Because I don't have a PC. just a android smartphone.

name 1 (one) gentoo user who contributed to humanity.
I'm too busy getting laid and doing actual work on my Windows 10 machine.
>>61159201
Installed gentoo, used it for some time.
Then I went back to windows because i actually like to get some work done.
Still dualbooting that shit tho just for shitposting on desktop threads
I'm not necessarily retarded, but I get scared whenever I see numbers and letters in monotype font on a black screen.
>>61159346
Oh shit
I read that it uses a bsd style ports system.
I've tried bsd and it's absolute shit.
Therefore I've avoided gentoo.

What.cd owners
I only just about managed to install Archbang after hours of trying to figure out disk partitioning
I'll give Gentoo a try in a few months
>>61159201
im using gentoo
I'd use Gentoo if I didn't have to reinstall all my packages from Arch
I did but i have run out of disk space/inodes.
Gonna have to Install Gentoo again.

This. Best install script for lazyasses.
>>61160652
gentoo uses openRC, the improvement of System V
>>61159201
Last time I successfully installed it was in 2004. I tried once recently and got stuck compiling the kernel.
There is simply no good reason to use gentoo nowadays anyway.

> There is simply no good reason to use gentoo nowadays anyway
But what about telling everyone you use gentoo?
>>61160661
I I thought it wasn't ready for real word use?
I've been in the Clover OS threads and most people won't install it on real hardware, only virtual machines.
>>61159201
Because I have better things to do with my life.
>>61161416
slackware doesn't shove any initial system down your throat
>>61161840
I have it installed on my machine. It's usuable if your know what your doing.
>tfw Gentoo was the first OS I installed on my PC other than Windows and it wasn't even that hard
Maybe the "Install Gentoo" meme made more sense years ago, but these days the wiki and installation documentation are amazing. It's impossible to fuck up that badly. I think it's harder to install Arch.

>It's impossible to fuck up that badly. I think it's harder to install Arch.
True, Arch always fucks itself up.
>>61163126
You must be really smart, like really smart at following instructions. How long was the compile time for you?
>>61159201
its not opensuse
