On Windows I use pic realted and I find it perfect for note-taking in class during my lessons. I want to find an Open source or free alternative on Linux because shitty Microsoft doesn't want Desktop Linux to succeed and they doesn't want to share their software in GNU/Linux platform.
I need something that is:
> Simple to use, no emacs-related difficulty
> Have the basic format text (italic, bold, underlined, buleted list)
> Can sync with internet and save my notes on the cloud
Bonus:
> Android app
> not using pen and paper
google docs

Evernote is about as close you'll get but drawing features aren't available on every platform
I've been down this road, OP, and there are no good solutions. For some quick simple not taking, the online versions for OneNote and Evernote are ok. But for a serious research project with lots of citations, you're going to have to dual boot Windows.
I'm using zim for note taking. I'ts nice because you can link different pages together and create some kind of offline wiki for your own projects. I sync the files with syncthing between my devices. I don't think there is an android app....
