Void Linux question. So I'll be installing Void in my new laptop this Friday. I am just wondering some questions about the package manager(s). So say if I wanted to compile chromium from source, would I use xbps or -src? And how would I use It? Reason I want apps compiled from source is because I heard it runs faster if compiled from source. Thanks/g/

Why don't you look in the documentati- oh.

-src packages are the same as cloning the repo but less updated.
You wont gain much from compiling your packages, as today all distros are 64bit, so the i486 vs i686 compiler flags is over. Apart for number crunching (zip, john the ripper, that kind of things) and rendering programs (which most use the GPU nowadays) you are losing your time compiling from source.

TLDR if you can take advantage of a obscure processor feature compile from source. Otherwise save your time.

I have a good processor. Say if I wanted to install chromium from source, how would I do that? Like commands
