So I built a new computer, specs are: Ryzen 5 1600 MSI B350M

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

So I built a new computer, specs are:

Ryzen 5 1600
MSI B350M Mortar Arctic
Zotac 1080 Ti Amp Extreme Edition
G.Skill 16GB 3200MHz Dual Channel RAM
WD Blue 500GB SSD
Toshiba X300 5TB HDD
Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4 CPU cooler

When I go into the BIOS and set my overclock settings, the motherboard cycles a few times before booting into windows, in which MSI Command Center tells me my CPU is still clocked at 3.2 and my ram is still at 2133. I have tried numerous setting in the BIOS, manually changing the timing on the RAM as per the SPD, manually changing voltage to the CPU and RAM (to about 1.35 each), but I have had no luck.

Cinebench scores in pic related, I feel like my PC is underpreforming even concidering the overclock isn't working. Maybe I have a bad motherboard? the BIOS is up to date on the mobo.

I am really lost on this one, any input or ideas?

EVGA SuperNOVA 650W G3

There was a huge thread yesterday, some guy had an MSI motherboard and was also having issues with it. Try contacting MSI see what they have to say.
>>
>>61127777
they told me that while the board does support XMP, they do not provide tech support for it and to contact G.Skill. I am guessing the same applies for the CPU overclock

Make sure you have the latest update for your mobo BIOS / UEFI (use their update utility or get it from their website), set the cpu core voltage to 1.35 - 1.365v, set the memory voltage to 1.4v. (1.4v on memory usually fixes this issue)

Try 2933MHz for the memory, as there's a memory hole right around 3200MHz. You may also have more luck turning up the base clock frequency if your mobo supports that, but you shouldn't need to.

I will try that voltage on my RAM, thanks

I can tell you your cinebench score is within the expected range for a stock 1600.

that makes me feel better, thanks.

i feel like my fps is a little low for the most powerful 1080 Ti on the market right now though? Idk I am out of the loop this is my first build since 2012.

What resolution/refresh rate are you running at?
>>
>>61128029
well right now since I haven't picked up my new monitor I am using a shitty 32 inch 720p TV that is 60Hz.

What effect could that have?
>>
>>61128087
Well you should be getting 60 FPS on that for sure, what issues are you having with FPS? Installed NVidia drivers?
>>
>>61128113
Oh, no yeah my fps is fine I m talking about my cinebench score as picture in my first post. 88 fps seems low doesn't it? Idk how demanding cinebench is though but it's just a couple cars racing down a city street for half a minute. Running the benchmark in metro last light puts me at over 100 fps though so maybe I'm just worrying over nothing

Thanks for the constructive and helpful post

I love how /g/ is still the free tech support board. Good job, pajeets.

Lol why do people cheap out on mobos?

It's a micro atx build, it was the best one that would fit. Also I got it all working. For some reason XMP would not work but Memory Try It! is working just fine.
