Because if it doesn't "just werk" it's literally useless to 90% of the population.

I don't know about you, but when I buy something, I genuinely enjoy spending two weeks debugging why the piece of shit doesn't work.

Nothing give a my life meaning like spending 50 bucks on something that works intermittently orgas to be cobbled together to get it to work sometimes.

"It just works" is the fucking standard for consumer electronics for a fucking reason.
>>
>>61103826
and the advantage of that being ... ?
any of those preloaded games costs as much on eBay as the SNES mini itself.

for that price normies could have a Rasberry pi emulating any system with any game... except Stafox 2.

>>
>>61104161
you do realize that a nearly complete build of the game was leaked like a decade ago right?
>>
OP, let's attribute it to consoles.

In this case I think that classic SNES is quite pointless because it doesn't even use the real hardware.

Anyways, 2 decades ago people were used to buy a console and play games. That's as simplistic as it got. You got your goddamn cartridge, your console, you turned it on and at best you would have a fucking music player on the PS1-- whatever, you know what I'm talking about. People wanted that, and people loved that.

These days, consoles have these fucking menus, online connectivity out the wazoo and even ingame stupid crap that no one should seriously bother with. I see people getting sick of it, and nevermind older people which don't even understand why this has to be a thing.

Same thing with OSes, computers, phones, whatever. Many people want tools and entertainment, that's it. They don't want to have to put extra time on shit that is not even good for their own health, let's be honest. They want a computer where they can easily fuck around, browse the web, write some stupid shit maybe, listen to music, chat with people. They don't want some stupid popup about how they introduced this new feature that is able to display ads on their fucking desktop, or that they have to use measures to stop the system from updating whenever they want to turn on the PC to realize that, oh shit, this thing isn't turning off for 3 FUCKING HOURS.

If your hobby isn't primarily fixing something, you shouldn't have to fix something. It's someone else's job or entertainment. If you bought a product that is advertised as "it holds candles" and it doesn't hold candles often, you feel like you've been scammed, and you don't want that. People want some things straight to the fucking point.

Yeah. A modded Wii and a classic TV would have been a better option, or a raspberry Pi. But why bother someone to take the effort, or even take the effort to look for ROMs that are now being taken down, and for ways of displaying the goddamn thing right?
>>
>>61104169
where the fuck do you think I played it? in my mind?
>>
>>61104186
but the NES mini that everyone went so crazy about can be modded to have an SNES emulator built in. It's not even hard, there's a program the LITERALLY takes care of everything for you. Is this beyond the basic ability of the average normalfag? You just follow the directions and click start
>>
>>61104200
then why the fuck would you buy it again you stupid shit?
>>
>>61104221
how could I buy something that was never released? who did I pay, the ROMburgler?
>>
>>61104237
if you can download it right NOW and play it on your computer for FREE, why would you buy an emulation box for the same game?

???????????
>>
>>61104211
Well, that's because the NES mini (and likely this as well) is pretty much a Wii with certain modifications. It has similar hardware so it would be able to handle emulation of quite a few platforms.

But yes, yes it is. People don't want to fuck with stuff, no matter how simple. Modding a Wii or a 3DS these days is stupid easy, but I have to tell you, there's a lot of people who will never do it even if they're paid to do it.
>>
>>61104250
i probably won't desu, i don't want the starbox 2 that bad
>>
>>61104169
No, dumbfuck. Document yourself before shitposting.

>In a neat twist, it would be during the production of Star Fox Command that Cuthbert was re-acquainted with his past, ill-fated project. "During development we received a copy of the mastered Star Fox 2 ROM to play, and it was quite a blast." This ROM would have been the final game, complete with QA tweaks and ready for a release that never happened. Cuthbert is keen to point out that this version is far superior to the numerous leaked prototype ROMs which are currently doing the rounds on the web - the leaking of which has been erroneously attributed to himself. "There are a few ROMs on the net in various conditions," he states. "But the ones I checked out are all old and they don't have the randomizing Rogue-like stuff working or all the encounters in place, so you don't really get the feel of the game we were making."

As several people pointed out, people don't want to fuck with stuff.

Look, I'm one of you. I've been in /g/ for like 10 years. I used to be a small time sysadmin making $42k/yr. I spent my days posting on /g/ and literally installing Gentoo. I now make $140k/yr.

Now that I have a wife and kid and responsibility and stress out my ass, my time has become incredibly valuable. I have an original wii with a mod chip and all the emulators, but man that is nowhere near as simple as this snes mini, which I will be buying, over paying even if I have to get it on eBay.

You don't have to dick with 15 clicks and wade through 200roms, this thing will turn on instantly and you just pick the gsme. It's wife proof, kid proof, and will maximize my time and satisfaction. You guys don't appreciate this because your time isn't valuable to you yet, but as you get older it will be.

Meh, I don't value my time so much but I'm lazy. I never got into raspi and I'd do the snesbox with 100€ nuc. Then learn the emulators settings, configure pad and autistically ponder if I use snapshots or in-game saves. Then spend half an hour to surf porn.

Imagine if you were buying a brand new car that didn't "just werk"

Imagine your laundry machines didn't "just werk"

Just werks = convenience and convenience is a massive selling point in this "I want it now" world. Something that comes out a box and works instantly with one button press but costs a lot of money wins over something that requires a little knowledge and time but is completely free. This piece of shit also has manchild nostalgia attached to it but even without that it would still sell because it's pleb friendly. About the only demographic who would struggle to use it would be the elderly because they're mostly technophobic.

Easy nostalgia.
Modern connections.
Novelty of a cute, mini console.
Nice, fresh in the box item, vs someone's faded (or custom paint job) SNES with childhood grime caked in the crevices of the controller.
Try finding a complete system with as many games, if not the same ones, that isn't all sports and Super Scope 6 for the same price. Don't forget to add up the shipping if you're buying them from a dozen different sellers.
