The big "G" which could be joked to mean "GAY" turns everyone off but theyre really good switches.

I've been tying on the James Donkey with Gateron Browns for a week. Now I'm switching to a K70 with MX Speed.

Currently have a Matias Tactile Pro on the way to round out my collection. So far I have Buckling Spring, MX Red, MX Speed, Topre, and Gateron Brown.

>>
>>61099484
I'd get Gateron Browns at least. The tactile bumps in Cherry switches are weak.

Also look into the Matias Quiet Switch

How to know if this Cherry MX Blue switch is genuine ?
I bought a keyboard (TVS Gold Bharat) from a friend that's leaving the country and wanted to sell as much shit as he can. I know that this keyboard is indian, so that's a huge red flag, but how bad can it really be ? I paid 5 euros for it and even if it has fake switches, it's still probably a bit better than my Logitech K120 I have at the moment

Good to know
At worst I will probably be able to sell it for couple euros more, if I will get a better keyboard sometime
It seems to have some ghosting, but not sure yet if it's any better than ghosting on K120
What about using PS/2 female to male extension since the cable is fairly short and I can't comfortably connect it to my PC. Will the extension not make any noticeable difference ?

How are Gateon blues? I was going to get an anne pro with them but then saw pic attached on input club's website.
>>
>>61104820
Gateron blues are not bad, but I think the cherry mx version is better due to the actuation force being 50g and the gateron version being 55g. That is only 5g off from being blacks.
>Scratchy press
Gateron blues I got were still smooth... It was just the actuation force needed and it literally hurt my fingers. I think that just got the gen1 copies or something. The gen2 and gen3 are much better in that regard.
>>
>>61103557
>Why are Cherry Blues so best?
Yes and second are gateron browns. Fuck the linear switches (besides blacks, I only have respect for those).
>Why are Zealios so worst?
Literally overpriced gaterons. I am not joking about it, gaterons literally made those for the Zealgoy company and they are selling them for ridiculous prices. I got a tester for the switches and they are not that great either.
>>
>>61102067
>>61098710
There was literally a comparison where someone opened the switches and it was basically the same material. Some metal, plastic cover and stem, and a spring. Surprise surprise a switch is not that hard to make and the cherry mx is nowhere "premium"
>>
>>61104918
I got a tester too. Zealios feel like broken linears. And I've come to the conclusion that Cherry Blue is the superior switch for all use cases.

gonna buy a full modular DIY keyboard. idk which keys to get. I've had these gateron blacks for a year or so now, and I make so many typos. it's like they make me type worse, and for gaming they're just meh. I want something different from cherry reds though. Should I go with gateron reds?

Also I play Tekken on keyboard, using arrow keys as ABYX. what switches would be good? would blues and browns simulate fightstick buttons the most?

Please Help Anons...

Trying to get my first mechanical keyboard for gaming - cs:go

I'm looking for, in order of priority:

1 - Gaming switches, so Linear like Cherry MX Reds or Silvers, or Silent Reds

2 - Compact. I never use the numpad and want to free up desk space.

3 - RGB. Obviously optional but I have a rgb mouse and keyboard that sync (razer) any chance to get anything other than a razer keyboard to sync rgb with those?

Best I have found at a good price is this:

My motospeed CK104 has some issues with A key recently, when I press it, it many times either double clicks (types 2 A:s instead of one) or doesnt register at all. Really fucking annoying, is there an easy fix I could try for mechanical switch or what the fuck could be the issue, its annoying as fuck when it many times either double clicks or doesnt register at all while typing. You think I've should've gotten the Quiet Pro? How do the Matias clicky and quiet switches compare in terms of tactility?
>>
>>61111005
Thanks, although I went ahead and tried the isopropyl alcohol trick I found, I took out the keycap and dropped a few drops of it to the switch trying to get it inside and started clicking for a while and gave it some time to dry, and for the moment it seems to be functioning with no double clicks, maybe there was some shit in the switch causing it to double click, no idea or I am being lucky, but for the record while testing on typing tests and while writing this message I didn't notice any double clicks or missed clicks with the A key, it seems to be functioning for now.
I'll consider ordering these switches and those tools if it starts acting up again, but for now it seems to work and I hope it stays that way

Lots of people are posting about inexpensive offbrand keyboards with discount bootleg switches. From your own experiences in life do you really think this will be the same as a premium keyboard or any other premium product? Know that you are still overpaying for what you are getting.

I just bought a ducky something with red switches on a whim. For programming and occasional aoe2. First/only mech keyboard. I'm using an old IBM SK-1811 that I've had for years and years as an ex-poorfag (I suppose I'm now at the stage of poorfaggery that I piss away my sudden slightly disposable income).

What are some ways of dampening the sound of a rattly/loud/tinny sounding stabilizer?
And also, I know this would also be a good question for /csg/, but I figure I'd try here also; what are some cheap ABS or PBT caps that allow for backlighting (doubleshot or white) for around $10-$15? I know they'd be kinda crap quality, but compared to the painted caps that come on corsair and razer keyboard, I'd rather some textured ABS caps at least.

>>61101826
I tried some out from a display, felt alright, couldn't get used to the shorter stroke distance, I'd imagine it'd be great for gaming, but for typing, I didn't like the feel. Same complaint with the speed switches, mostly a preference thing, but I could see why people would like them.

I have a Corsair K65 and whenever I turn the brightness to full, it starts typing random keys. Also, my LED colour scheme is currently an orangeish hue across the keyboard but some keys are turning green. I'm currently too drunk to take it apart, clear it of any dust, and see if there's anything wrong with the circuits, but do you guys think this is easily fixable or is it a different issue that's related to the keyboard being old? I don't think I've had this for more than two years and I hope I'm not just going insane.
>>
>>61119570
sounds like an electronics/software design fault. try resetting it to the factory default and don't program too many macros or don't turn the brightness to full
>>
>>61119590
or maybe you have a bad capacitor somewhere. then you could replace the capacitor.

Thanks, I don't have any keyboard-specific drivers installed on my laptop, but I have saved a custom patterrn to the keyboard firmware. I'll try resetting it to see if that fixes it and I'll take it apart to make sure there's no physical damage.

I can do without LEDs but I just want to make sure that my entire keyboard won't be unusable now.

Just bought a Rapoo v500 (the standard layout one) and it has what seems to be cherry clone stabilizers.

Aluminum body or high quality plastic for kb frame?

Hi lads, I've fallen for my thinkpad (classic) keyboard and I'd like something similar or better* for the desktop. Precise, tactile, ~65g actuation.. Are the Cherry MX Clear/Gateron Clear what I'm after?

UK QWERTY
TKL or smaller (if the layout is good)
NKRO over PS/2

Thanks.

>>61105045

>>
>>61120460
Gateron clears aren't the same as Cherry clears.

Zealios would probably fit you perfectly but they don't come preinstalled in any keyboards.
>>
>>61120357
Construction matters more than material, I'll always pick a solid plastic frame designed with maximum support and minimal flex over most budget aluminium setups that are usually just a shitty 1.5mm plate and maybe half a dozen screw posts supporting the PCB so every key that isn't directly over a screw posts flexes like crazy.

Thanks, I want to avoid going too exotic if possible. Just want to buy the thing in 1 piece and be done with it.

Question on the 60% keyboards. Is the decrease in size just removing keys, or are the actual keys smaller, with a smaller gap? Like will it feel like a normal keyboard with less keys, or will it feel like some fucking netbook condensed keyboard?

Mod switches are a good meme, in fact, Mod-M switches are my favorite.

They're the most tactile MX switch I've tried and they're a lot more tactile than Zealios (cheaper too). Though Mods are scratchier than Zeals, but the tactically makes it up for me. A lot of people say that Mod switches feel a lot like Topre. You should at least get a tester to see if you like them.

What a lot of people do is buy Cherry Clears, than switch out the springs with Cherry Black springs.

Though I don't know what Originative did to the Mod switches, but they feel even more tactile than a "panda clear" (what I just mentioned). If you aren't mounting your test switches on a plate, just know they'll feel a lot better once the keyboard is made.

there are very few things that have a legitimate need for a numpad. accounting, 3d modeling/cad, manual data entry (lol if you're doing a lot of manual data entry in current year). even then, it's arguably better to have a standalone numpad which you are free to place wherever it suits you. a left hand side integrated numpad would be particularly dumb if you're right handed.

Hhkb is the best mech keeb. Basically the ultimate for typist and coders. Do you have MX sliders on your keeb?
>>
>>61132692
HHKB isn't a mech. Its either a rubber dome or capacitive.

You can't just pick one. You asked a thread on /g/ about their opinion. That automatically makes you retarded, just like the rest of us.

You automatically assuming that someone's calling you autistic pretty much confirms your autism too, by the way. Have fun living with that.

>>61132546
congrats on completely missing the joke. Congrats on enjoying your HHKB though.

does the hhkb physical layout actually offer any sort of advantage over the standard 60% physical layout or is it all just a meme/aesthetics
>>

Is this keyboard any good?
>>
>>61132721
The layout of the keeb lets your wrists stay in one position to reach all your keys, with numbers being accessible to you via modifs. It's a truly efficient mech keeb. I know viper keebs use the same layout and soon van keebs will release one with the same layout so it's more affordable for mech keeb enthusiasts who can build their own custom keebs.

>>
>>61132721
It's subjective, the layout is one of those things you have to try out and see for yourself. It's loosely based off the Sun Unix layout, except missing a few Sun specific keys.

Although I'd say it's actually the superior layout for 60%, it makes really efficient use of what available space there is and the delete key placement is great.

So i want a full keyboard with silent keys (something like cherry red silent) and a (preferably) white backlight, rgb can do. Color would be black with black/gray keys. Location is USA, something cheap. Anybody have any ideas?

My Matias Tactile Pro 4 came in. Some initial thoughts:

>keys are heavy as shit, almost more than buckling springs, and about as loud
>tactility is off the chart, very crisp
>Forward slash key frequently gets stuck due to Matias's bad quality assurance.

Aside from the busted key, I'm liking this feel a lot. I'll be using for a week and reporting back.

It's the best profile there is. Subjectively and all that crap, but not much can beat Cherry profile.

DSA feels like chiclets, SA is way too tall and not angled correctly, and absolutely no one likes OEM.
>>
>>61134020
I should've specified to the chink keyboard he posted. The Rosewill is cheaper and better built that it.

If you want an RGB board with Cherry MX Browns because it's Global Faggotry Month, this G.Skill is on sale for 80 burgerdollars.

>>61105920
Are you poor or something? Cost is not a factor when buying memes like mech keyboards
>>
>>61134092
Yes cherry is one of the best profiles for typing, it is not a flat profile, but is relatively low profile, making it easy to use and smooth feeling. Higher profiles like SA and OEM are less comfortable and require more attention to type well.
>>
>>61134045
It's the best profile, period.

go to a retail store and try keyboards with the basic switches (blue/brown/red). or just go with blue switches if you'll be typing with it alone and you don't think the sound will bother you

>>
>>61131132
Consult the chart here >>61133099 to see what suits you.

Given how cheap keyboards are getting due to Chinese Cherry MX clones, you could buy a Gateron Brown and Blue board and still come out ahead over buying a Ducky Shine.

Why so much hate on MX brown. The subtle bump and light spring is the best of all.
>>
>>61133635
don't know what keyboard that is but that spacebar looks interesting. i do think the spacebar in cherry/oem profile is stupid as hell. some keycap sets are better at shaping the concave part to compensate for it but your pic related takes it to another level.

Question, do these Matias switches bind at all, especially if you hit them off center, or do the always provide a smooth and unobstructed motion?

I only tried one ALPS variant keyboard once, and the switches would stick/bind if you didn't hit them on center, so it was terrible to type on. Cherry MX bind a bit if you hit them really off center, but not much. Topre seem better in that department.

Finally trying out my new tada after years of using rubberdomes and scissor chiclets. It's... interesting. I suppose I should also learn to touch type properly now, because I'm stuck in the weird half-pecking way that was extremely overfit to my previous keyboards and limited me to about 80WPM on my best days.

It does feel pretty great though, and loud as all fuck with the blues. I'm already not fully bottoming out and I love it. Now to try gaming with blues
>>
>>61136181
Speaking of the tada, has anyone made a proper english-translated version of the programming software or do I still have to go to the chink site with no domain name and guess at half the more advanced options?

Given how popular the keyboard is I'd have thought maybe someone from reddit or something would have whipped something up by now.
