I'm curious/wondering about BSDs?
Can an avid user of any BSD tell me why they chose to switch?
What do you find BSD(s) (or your particular BSD) has that makes it better for your use than other OS(s)?

Almost all BSD users are people who want *nix but have some philosophical objection or other to Linux.
>>

You won't find many differences as an end user. Maybe if you like some specific api (as kqueue or zfs). Or if you like reading source code, netbsd seems to be the most organized code of OSS operating systems.

bsd is not an end-user OS anon, if you are unsure if you should switch you effeminately should not.

BSD is good for specific tasks, stick with loonux with you want a desktop os
>>
>>61082603
you definitely should not*
>>
>>61082520
Absolutely no reason, BSD is garbage, I didn't like it
>>
>>61082619
Please elaborate on your talking points, otherwise it's just an inane comment.

Here's the thing, I mainly use Tiling WMs, and really despise bloat (even though I use arch, I'm looking to switch)
Definitely don't care about widgets or inane features.
Also, define end-user.

If you want to see the other side and how things are done, go for it. You'll likely not find too many differences until you dig deeper (assuming your drivers work, yes, there really is a lack of those).

FreeBSD is enterprise level support with high performance and cutting edge OS research(much like illumos), OpenBSD is the sane system with out of the box reasonably secure defaults, NetBSD does lots of cool compiler and testing work, dragonfly runs only amd64 and x86, some cool stuff.

Go for whatever fits your interests, and you can always switch back if you don't like it.

Stability and predictability.
