Foobar2000 / General Music Player Thread
All the options are shit edition
What media player do you use?
>>61081438
MusicBee my dude, but will switch back to foobar2000 because it has a better icon tbqh
>>61081438
>>61081454
I've been looking for a good minimal vertical foobar skin, but haven't had any luck yet.
>>61081438
JewTunes. It's pretty as fuck, does what I need and the option to use my phone as remote is pretty fucking neat. It could be more stable but at least it doesn't look like some Pajeet or neckbeard designed it in a weekend.
>>61081481
The stock one with Columns UI is pretty minimal and convenient to use.
>>61081464
>shit player
>shit music
>shit poster
>>61081464
What player is that? iTunes?
>>61081866
Unfortunately
>>61081983
>unironically playing FLACs
>>61081438
Clementine. I like it much better than f2000.
>>61082023
oh yeah! does this trigger you?
>>61081438
I use hex editor and sharp eye.
>>61082099
Not even shacking.
I'm lazy so I just use VLC for everything. Music and video.
>tfw unable to global bind f1 key
Musicbee is nice...
QuodLibet shits on all these
>>61081983
looks sick
>>61082420
it really is. Used it for a couple of months and it's my 2nd favourite after foobar.
I use foobar on windows, pic related.
Same on SUSE, even though it doesn't work that well over there (or i'm just stupid and cant make it work)
Does anyone have a nice player to recommend for linux? I need it to have a good tag editor + some way of sorting and naming files like Foobar's "File Operation" thingy.

please help me. I have suffered for so long.
>>61083122
try Quod Libet.
It's very lightweight and highly customizable
>>61083224
pls be riceable
Aimp of course
clementine
>>61082048
I also use Clementine, but really miss foobar. Its search was definitely the best, Clementine is just wonky. I love it when I typed Aria and foobar just showed me my folders instead of dumb clutter by going album/artist only on its search.
>>61082688

>>61083682

this
foob
I use acme + mpv.
>>61082023
FLAC is the best audio format. The only other one you should ever be using is MP3 V0, and only of you have storage issues.
musicbee is the best imo. the last.fm integration is really nice
>>61084679
Disgusting

OPUS
is there an extension for foobar2000 that allows me to use tabs so i can switch between things and pick back up where i left off on a release or anything like that?
>>61082710
>Doesn't post anything while posting only negative responses.
At least give some suggestions or show yours for others to build from if it's so damn good

Foobar2000
Not done adding the buttons on the side yet.
>>61084673
What skin? The one I'm using has more bloat than I'd like.
Also, nice taste.
Absolutely perfect for a big library
I used to use winamp but then it just stopped working suddenly and decided to move on.
>>61083122
it works fine in wine
>>61086209
wine is gross
>>61086267
um ok
>>61081438
>What media player do you use?
MPD with different clients, although my favourite one is the one that actually shows cover art.
>botnet general
lmao, retards
Musicbee. It might not be open source but it's perfect aside from that.

I unironically use ncmpcpp, though I agree it is far from perfect.
Really though most of the time I dotn have ncmpcpp running, I just have a few keybindings set for mpc and use them instead.
>>61088006
I'd call ncmpcpp the most complete MPD client you can get.
Here's mine, it's a bit ugly but it's very usable
>>61084624
all that is in the info tab.
I'd rather have tons of space for album art grid instead of packing info into the playlist.
>>61081983
What skin is that?
>>61081438
I use your mom and make her sing depending on how hard I pump on her button (((clit))).
After switching to Linux, I tried most of the music managers available. They either crashed or did not provide the functionality I desired. Qoud Libet for example crashed everytime I tried to scan my library (~20000 files).
Therefore I had to abadon my foobar skin in windows and clicked together a new one for wine with ColumnsUI. It works pretty well, I could even change the color scheme with wine so that it does not look that ugly. Either way, foobar handles my library fluently under wine.
WinAmp
I keep reading here that Poweramp has an obsolete interface, but it's the only player that feels "right" to me on Android. Navigation feels smooth and natural, and more importantly it doesn't fuck up my tags- like when an artist/song/album has non standard characters, or when an album has multiple artists, something that is on the to do list many /g/ approved music players, especially the free as in freetard ones.
My only gripe is that my new Huawei phone doesn't support the gorgeous material skin (pic related), and the fabled "update" is taking forever.
>>61090528
comparison shot
>Religiously organize music library
>Download an album
>Like only one songs in the entire album
>Can't bring myself to keep it, delete entire album
>>61090528
It's the best. I love using it in my car.
>>61081983
I like your taste. Can you post a list or an image with all album names.
>tfw nothing can match the walled garden of foobar2k on Linux
Life is suffering, senpai-famtachi.
>inb4 muh 0xDEADBEEF

Show me one music player on GAHNOO+Linux thay can play DVD-A, SACD, and DSD ISOs. I'll gladly wait.

>>61087658

>>61096137
>is there something like that for linux?
The answer to this question is always "no" and "make it yourself".
>>61096173
yea, i just figured that out myself
well actually it seems there IS something similar
https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/55/media-player-indicator/
i miss my hyper minimal winamp skins that could be collapsed into a single horizontal bar. does any modern media player support themes as tiny and if so please point me towards any of these themes
AIMP
>>61093692
What skin?
>>61096492
Bump for interest
Replacing files for several albums since I noticed they are in really lossy quality.
How can I copy the tags to the new files?
>>61097029
something homemade cobbled together with columnsui and some other plugins
Just works.
>>61081983
Hey man, really like your theme and layout, can you share it, please?
>>61097177
>How can I copy the tags to the new files?
For f2k
- Mark all old songs, right click, properties
- In metadata tab, mark all rows, copy
- Mark all new songs, right click, properties
- In metadata tab, mark all rows, paste, apply
- ???
- Profit
You can be more granular using 'edit' from the context menu, but that'll only work for one row in the metadata page I think. Can be useful for track titles of an album as it shows them all at once and you can edit each individually before applying any changes.
>>61097427
>>61089981
The skin is Foonate 1.7, 1.8 was renamed Slides and brought lots of changes. Was unstable for me however. Never upgraded in the end.
>>61098232
Man, i cant find it anywere, google just drive me to a deleted post on deviantart, can u help me?
mpd on laptop
ncmpcpp on everything
mpdroid + mpd httpd on Android
pulseaudio sink on Linux/Windows desktop
>>61098485
not right now, sorry. it's almost 3 in the morning, i'm in bed and need to sleep badly.
just, i don't know. post where i should upload and i might have look at the archive in the morning.
I run Foobar2k with the WASAPI plugin in WINE. Is the WASAPI plugin even worth running if I'm using WINE?
>>61096492
I know of XMPlay (http://www.un4seen.com/) and TTPlayer, but the latter is Chinese and became part of the Baidu botnet in 2010
>>61098659
right man, i'll wait
mpd+ncmpcpp
got memed into using it and liked it and haven't bothered using anything else since. i do still use foobar in wine to organize my music library though, haven't gotten around to setting up beets or anything else yet
Roon, literally the only good music player. Foobar Musicbee and ncmpcpp are pajeet tier trash. Vox is decent.
Windows Media Player.
It has fancy visualizations.
>>61081438
Bsplayer. But the only reason i use it is because it downloads movie subtitles automatically.
>>61086606
>YEAH, YEAH, YEAH
>mfw installing wine to use foobar2000
why are these devs so gay that they don't make them for desktop linux, same goes for that madshi madvr cunt and more it's a trend hella gay
>>61100290
People usually don't make stuff for platforms they don't use.
Any good one for Android that isn't payware and has lyrics support?
>>61101089
i don't use desktop linux but just knowing it's a worthy platform would be reason enough for me to open source my own work
these winfag devs are just being gay is all

true patrician choice. deleting songs from an album is something you simply dont do. either its worth keeping in its entirety or its not
Still using Winamp, recently found an internal file explorer plugin.
>>61084673
I'm just using explorer + windows media player now (or mocp when I'm on windows) but seeing this makes me wanna get my shit together and get something with cover browsing again.
>>61103166
*mocp when I'm on linux, obviously
>>61082420
This looks exactly like the version of itunes I had right before I stopped using it, except without that horrible fade at the edges of album covers. Too bad it's windows only.

View -> Layout -> Enable layout editing mode
right click somewhere -> Replace UI Element -> Album Art Viewer
right clicking that gives you
Front cover
Back cover
Disc
Artist
Icon
you can add several Album Art Viewers set to the different graphics
>>61108350
You know, this came out in 2012 too.
So... I don't know, you be the judge.
>>61103277
