What does /g/ think of games/mods and game engines replacing modeling software and rendering? In the future, will concept stills and movies all be done with real-time rendering?
I can tell it's skyrim because the imperial army gloves

Unless you have a supercomputer thousands of times more powerful than Pixar's renderfarm that can render a raytraced frame in a matter of milliseconds rather than hours then no.

I can tell it's Skyrim because someone actually thought to make a fucking Imperial nipple and crotch plate mod

Bummer. I thought that's a 3D porn.

>game engines replacing modeling software and rendering?
Do you think someone opens up the Skyrim Creation Kit and started modelling in it?

>blurry outfit.
The entire image is blurry.
Welcome to the Skyrim modding community. Install 200-500 porn mods and some grass mod that adds 5 million blades per square foot then slap on an ENB/Reshade that cranks saturation to 1500% and add an overblown depth of field with an f-stop at f/1.4

hopefully that isn't an example of what you think will be relevant, it looks like upressed dreamcast fmv
in general, though, most of what makes a game's 3d engine suitable for games is a focus on making smart sacrifices for realtime rendering and abstracted "good enough" physics. if/when we hit a computational breakthrough where realtime is not obviously distinguishable from prerendered, it's also a breakthrough where prerendered is not distinguishably slower than realtime, and we're more likely to see game logic grafted onto rendering software (easy, just feed it inputs) than a complete rewrite of any game engine to feature-match a photorealistic renderer.
