/g/ I'm trying to make this image as small file size as possible.
Is there anything more I can do? without reducing the resolution?
Is .gif the best format for this?
>>61023041
GIF is actually lossless, so no, maybe not
You can make it with bitmaps, 38*38 being ~ 180 Bytes
>>61023075
what about overheads etc?
There's probably a compression file type that would make that a tiny bit smaller
>>61023041
Is there a way to make the image smaller when you click on it.
>>61023514
If there was, 4chan would be full of them by now. But yes, the thumbnail is probably a larger file size than the actual image.
I can't get it any smaller than this.
A .bmp file always ends up being 368bytes
>>61023041
Try PNG with 1 bit depth.

retard
gif is lossy

Think about his post, and how obviously it was a joke.

is there a valid reason for doing so besides your autism?

>trying to save space on my hard drive.
u already ruined the image and it's 200bytes
>>61024574
What is this, 1967? How small is your hard drive?
>>61024630
2GB
>>61023041
lmao
>>61024679
Are you the guy who built an $80 PC with a USB stick as a hard drive?
>>61023654
I think this is the best you can do.
>>61024679
How much free space do you have after the OS? My 1400+ image collection is only 130MB.
>>61023041
It depends on the nature of the image anon. For instance Jpeg is good for photos, whereas PNG or gif maybe be better for images with less colours and gradients. There are also a number of features of each file format that may be worth experimenting with for the right combination of image quality and file size. I'm not sure if GIMP can handle this kind of thing, but I remember back in the olden days using some kind of adobe web image optimisation tool that allowed you select colour palettes for gifs and also optimise jpegs. Perhaps search around for something like that.
See haiku vector format
Check out optipng and jpegoptim, they're good for reducing filesizes.

You mean your horribly botched compressed to shit low res thumbnail collection
>>61025268
Nope, I can just into image optimization.
>>61025380
You're kidding, right?
*.jif
>>61025398
No.
It probably helps that I converted my 3MB gifs into <1MB webms
>>61025420
nigga u autism
>>61025420
Please teach me

I wrote a simple script that gives reasonably high quality webms from gifs, but I don't have it on me right now. Maybe in 8 hours I'll make a thread about it, and other stuff like it
>>61024692
but that's actually more than OP's image
