Is there any functionality you feel like you're missing from your computer? Write a program to fill in that gap. Any time you go to search for a piece of software, try making it yourself instead. Yes, the program you want likely already exists and is probably written better than anything you can write, but it's a good way to learn and flex your programming muscles every now and again.
