I'm using my overclocked Raspberry PI 2 as a desktop replacement. AMA
how r u?
is that a picture of you
>>61013986
what desktop did you replace that an oc'd rpi2 was an improvement?
Do you have the clean the mound of skin where your penis used to be?
What kind of virtual network simulations / programs/ whatever should I look into to improve my networking skills in preparation for taking a CCNA test?
How long have you been an ELITE fucking hacker for op? Holy shit you're so fucking cool I just want to suck your big dick. You're making my pussy so fucking wet.
What do you actually use it for that couldn't be accomplished by a Chromebook or even a tablet? If nothing, it's not a desktop replacement. It's a gimped mobile device.
who is this semen daemon?

Packet Tracer is all you need for the CCNA. Download some scenarios from somewhere. Cisco provide a pack of them to educators, see if you can steal that.
As for CCNP and discipline-specific CCNAs, you should consider GNS3
>>61014065
I've got packet tracer, but finding decent scenarios is difficult.
There's so much goddamn pajeet garbage it's unreal.
>>61013986
I've done that, just doing basic things like switching tabs or minimizing the windows stutters and freezers the rpi2
Does it play crysis?
How long before you kill yourself?
>>61014083
Its also entirely possible to just create your own that encompass all those concepts you would likely encounter in the CCNA test.
For example, implement router on a stick in one OSPF area, a layer 3 switch in another area, and whatever in some more areas. Then, in each branch, implement a shit load of VLANs (including a voice VLAN), and route/switch between everything.
Then switch the core routing protocol to EIGRP or something.
Then implement ACLs to stop people accessing some HTTP server or making calls to certain people.
Just basic shit, use your imagination.
What kind of SD card do you use? It's obnoxious how slow an RPi is because of it.
>>61014012
>what desktop did you replace that an oc'd rpi2 was an improvement?
Not really.
I have ThinkPad X220 and Dell Workstation in use but I use Raspberry Pi for every task that doesn't require leaving home or any heavy lifting.
Music works, web browsing works, writing works, reading PDF files works, playing retro games works, connecting to my company via SSH works. What else do I need?
That lightweight DE PIXEL is awesome.
>>61014047
>Chromebook
It uses less power
>tablet
I have keyboard and mouse + normal monitor
oh, and real USB ports
>>61014099
>I've done that, just doing basic things like switching tabs or minimizing the windows stutters and freezers the rpi2
1) Overclock that shitarm_freq=1000
sdram_freq=466
core_freq=466
over_voltage=4
temp_limit=80 #Will throttle to default clock speed if hit.
gpu_mem=128
over_voltage_sdram_p=4
over_voltage_sdram_i=4
over_voltage_sdram_c=4
disable_overscan=1
#overscan_left=0
#overscan_right=0
#overscan_top=0
#overscan_bottom=20
2) install PIXEL
3) boot from an SSD or some fast USB 3.0 drive
I use an SSD and everything including Youtube works fine now.
>>61014151
>What kind of SD card do you use?
I don't. I use the cheapest 128 GB SSD via USB.
>>61014106
>Does it play crysis?
Even better.
It plays everything up to N64 and DOS.
>>61014047
It can run in silence with no hard drives and fans. Total silence rocks.
dumbest thread of the day
>>61013986
are you using some kind of heatsink ? post some pics
>>61014245
Isn't it USB2? Why not a TB hard drive.
>>61014464
Ye
>>61014506
Because hard drive make noise destroying my silent room setup.
>>61014510
>>61014584
fucking 4th world tier shit right here
>>61014610
Why? For movies and games I have a larger screen but I don't need it for reading text. It's a waste of electricity.
>>61014646
>me or my wife's son
>>61014044
OP here. This is why I do it what I do.
>>61014646
>>61014807
What book is that?
>>61015085
Malleus Maleficarum in chinese
>>61014807
Do you live in the ISS or the Nostromo?
>>61014380
Most Chromebooks are passively cooled and use flash memory as storage medium.
They're 100% silent.
I feel you OP, I feel you..
I used an Odroid C1 for about a year with Debian + mate as my only computer (other than my work laptop with no admin rights..)
>>61014807
Looks so claustrophobic.
How do you play games on that?
>>61015603
Well? How do you do that OP?
>>61014807
Better prey you never get bed bugs that's going to be a pain in the ear
Nice going OP, I did that too for some time (RPi1, then RPi3). There's just something exciting and sexy about using "alternative" hardware. And while I moved on to Mini-ITX PC since then, I still am keeping the Pi in mind as a demoscene release platform.
