It's hiding under the GPU. You will have to remove the GPU to access it.

And while your at it, I suggest moving one of the ram sticks out of the first memory channel and stick it on the second one. The one you want to move is the one closes to the socket (the one in the first blue slot), and it would ideally be in the second white slot.

I've opened up my old PSU once because I needed a fan and couldn't find one, then I noticed there was a fan inside the PSU so I just removed the screws etc. and unplugged the fan (it used a two pin connector) and it just werkd when I connected it to a desktop stand-alone power supply.

There's no risk if you make sure it's properly discharged. How long it holds a charge after its been unplugged depends on what sort of capacitors it uses. A quick thing some people swear by is unplugging the computer and then trying to power it on to discharge the capacitors quickly. Google how to discharge a PSU properly before working on it.

I suggest replacing the gts 520 with something like a 750ti or a gt 1030, you'll get great performance that way. The 250 is the only thing holding the machine back too much.
