Why isn't anyone talking about this?

>$1,199.99
>16GB HBM2

>4096 stream processors

Look at all these meme units! And it looks like it has their answer to nVidia's grip on the AI research market. Is anyone even gonna develop for this?

Tell me, was Waiting For Vega(tm) worth it?

start naming 'em

all i know is AMD is/was HIRING for people to develop for them

all the big libraries (on python at least, because that's all I follow) pytorch, tensorflow, etc. don't give a shit about AMD and opencl shit. and if you're a big boy working at google you're going to be using their TPUs anyways.
>>
Are they going to tell us what advantage it has over the gaming version? I'm not buying one unless they list the specs of the gaming version and software differences.

Really? The P5000 is basically a 1080 with more VRAM and lower clocks. (also, only 8.9 TFLOPS)

Vega Frontier will definitely beat a 1080 by a considerable margin, so it will also beat a P5000.
>>
I'm in the beta for their GPU renderer for blender. It's quite good but with no info on how vega performs in it not buying.

>If we take a look at some benchmarks posted by PCPerspective a while ago, the Quadro P5000 (a GTX 1080 equivalent card) manages to score 152.92 in Catia. Vega scores 135.75 in comparison which is near the P4000, that is a cut down GP104 SKU. In Solidworks test, the Quadro P5000 scores 168.11 versus 114.88 on Vega. The score is even lower than Quadro P2000 which is based on a cut down GP106 die

>As you can see, the Quadro cards have the best optimization on pro workloads so AMD once again picked the best case scenario for them by comparing their best pro card to NVIDIA’s best non-Quadro card

The drivers of the Geforce are not the same

Will anyone release a water block for the air cooled version? Those closed loop coolers on this and the fury x are annoying when you already have a loop.

>>
>>61005366
AI apparently uses FP16. One thing I'm not sure about is can Vega stream data from system ram for 3d raytracing? Existing cards you're limited by whatever fits in VRAM. If the new memory controller can do that it's a big GPU rendering bottleneck solved.

Yeah polaris was actually worse and misleading.
CF polaris at 50% GPU utalization matched 1080 in asehs of amd. Retards shitted the board how single polaris at 100% would match 1080.

knowing that it will have more ACE's and bigger wavefront?

dont count on it this shit will be even better than a 295x2 i bet my ass on this

and if im true well better preorder

>the rest can fuck off by the miners
isn't HBM bad for mining? AMD might have pretty great consumer launch, considering everything else is simply not in the stores
>>
>>61007572
what is bad is that you cant overclock it to a decent level..

if hbm2 is able to get memory overclocked well just imagine what the hbm can do with that massive bandwidth
>>
fukken gayman when
>>
>>61007627
>you cant overclock it to a decent level..
that's irrelevant, watch and see how OCing dies in next couple years due to better tech process
7nm will simply murder OC and run full throttle out of box finally
better have stable fq. out of box than throttling mess good for 3 minute benchmarks
>>
>>61007627
Bandwidth is useless if the shaders don't need it, it's literally a number and nothing more once the ALUs are fed.
>>
christ, it'll take fucking September for that card to be released.

>>61007572
HBM is bad because it capped at 4gb and Ethereum is extremely vram dependent.

HBM2 on Vega will have 8gb and 16gb versions.
>>
>>61007714
yeah why you think amd increased the number of ACE engines?
>>
>release date 7th January 2017
>only allows you to preorder
what did he mean by this???
>>
>>61007750
There's no proof that they did and those have nothing to do with the fucking bandwidth requirements of the shaders.
