Not sure if this is the right board to ask, but I don't know of any other that would be suitable for it.
I managed to get my hands on a VCR that allows it to be used as a capture device. Now I've already tried using VirtualDub with it, and it displays on my monitor perfectly, however the exported capture file only displays nothing but the color green with the audio playing along side it. And I'm not talking a green hue. It's literally just the color green. Is there any other capture software just as good and expansive as VirtualDub?
What do you use to connect your PC to the VCR?

Is there any software that comes with it? Did you try using other capture software, even VLC? Virtual Dub will use specific encoding on output, try looking under settings to maybe change that. Also try out other players to view the output files.

It didn't come any software.
Huh, never knew VLC could capture shit. I'll try that later.

It has a device input menu. It's a basic solution, but vlc is slightly more up to date than virtual dub.

Now, recording with VLC doesn't output it at some fuck-ass huge size, right? I will be able to compress it somewhat without loosing quality, correct?
