Is XFCE the best DE? If not which one is the best?
>Appears to have no major bugs
>They do not remove features every release (Gnome)
>Every major release does not introduce hundreds of bugs (KDE)
>Every minor release does not introduce dozens of bugs (Cinnamon)
Of the desktop environments, definitely. I still prefer using tiling window managers though.
>>60984638
no, but it is the deadest DE
>>60984638
The worst one if KDE. Jesus Christ, every time I attempt to try it out, something fails to work, and its a buggy piece of shit.
I use xfce in serve environments on low spec'd systems.
>>60984759
it doesn't need to be updated, because
>Appears to have no major bugs
just because its not updated doesnt mean its dysfunctional
>>60984832
screen tearing is major
>>60984638
i like mate.
>>60984924
I experienced screen tearing the first time I used XFCE. Installed Compton on the first day, and absolutely no screen tearing since then. The pros of XFCE are not worth dropping it over something as easily fixable as that.
>>60985118
>easily fixable
Wrong.
>>60985149
Oh, my bad, anon! It's probably pretty challenging for a retard like yourself. Whoops!
I like xfce for a few reasons
>very light weight
>bug free
>good menus
>easy to customize to look however the hell I want
no other de can offer all of those things
>>60985118
compton doesn't fix it.

the latest unstable update is from 2 days ago
I installed XFCE again yesterday after trying out i3 for several months (and realizing KDE is unfortunately still buggy despite some people saying otherwise)
Feels so comfortable.
There is even the "hide titlebar of maximized windows" option that I liked in KDE.
Now the only thing I miss is i3-style multi monitor behaviour.
Did anyone try the new GTK3 elements from 4.13?
>>60984638
I like it. I also like MATE, but that eats too many system resources. XFCE is lightest and most feature packed DE out there and offers great stability.

Did you even configure it? You know you don't just install it. You also have to set it to autostart, aside from disabling the default compositor.
>>60984924
window manager tweaks > compositor
>>60985880
> GTK3 elements
what the fuck, where, link or something
>>60986545
turning off default compositor and starting it isn't configuring it..
>>60986646
Correct, Which is why I mentioned configuring it, as well as several other steps you need to take. You can find examples of config files online and set it up yourself. Are you retarded or just pretending?
>>60986704
>blah blah idk what I'm talking about and I think my garbage compositor really fixes the issue with xfce, please show me config files cuz I can't figure it out
