AppImage shilling. Why does AppImage have not unified the different Linux distros out there? One file, multiple compatibility, can be build in OBS (automated), takes updates directly from upstream, bug reports and patches go directly to upstream, creators can worry more about doing better software than making it compatible to 10+ distros.
JUST WHY FUCKING NOT?!
>>60968747
a universal repositories of just Appimages would be perfect
>>60968766
this, but who will be responsible for its security and fidelity?
I bet Google

Jelly?
>>60968747
- They're far larger than the binaries shipped by distos now
- Distros can't apply patches specific to their distro
- The current system works fine
>>60968848
They don't work any different from Unix executables. If some shared library as a deendency isn't there, it isn't there - then the distributor needs to provide it.

kek, tell that to Arch users.

Thankfully, but I picture it will soon.
You can blame RedHat for shilling its Flatpak shit and Canonical their Snappy. Otherwise AppImages are just perfect.
Also >>60968766 would be damn awesome.
>>60968747
Flatpak does this too
>>60968953
RedHat shill detected. Reminder that lennartware is why we can't advance.
>>60968922
I hope the Flatpak and Snappy current propaganda ends with AppImage getting more known and as a new standard.
>>60968747
Because it still uses the System ~/.config folder.

> JUST WHY FUCKING NOT?!
Because linux "apps" can run on any distro anyway, the difference is in configs placement, but it's possible to recreate them by hand.
