if edge is so bad why is it the only browser that can do 4k in netflix?
>>
cuz microsoft paid them probably
>>
>>60966657
>only on intel hardware
>>
>>60966657
>>60966844
Only on Skylake hardware at that.
>>
>>60966657
My xboxone s can do 4k
>>
>>60966657
Lol wait so even for 1080p it has to be edge or safari?
>>
It even needs a new display because muh drm. Shit site is shit.
>>
>>60966657
Because Micros**t bribed them? Are you 12?
>>
>>60966657
I forgot Microsoft rebranded IE to "edge". That is hilariously unfortunate for a rebrand name.
>>
>>60967060
Or one of the official apps found in Applel/Jewgle/Microshaft app stores.
>>
>Netflix 4K works on Windows 10 machines in Edge on Intel Skylake
>pirated 4K works on literally every system including my toaster
Really makes you think.
>>
>>60967485
>toaster
highly doubt that
>>
>>60966657
It's the only one that supports the required DRM AIDS
>>
>>60966657
Don't listen to anything /g/ posts, most of them use Chrome for crying out loud.
>>
>>60966657
>that can do 4k in netflix?

Assuming you meet he following criteria:

>4k display using HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2
>Intel 7xxx system using FUCKING IGP and ABSOLUTELY NO DEDICATED GPU
>Have fast enough internet

FUCKING NETFLIX

Also Edge and the official Vindows 10 app lag like hell when playing Netflix.
>>
>>60966657
So disgusting. Can't believe people willingly support DRM.
>>
>>60966657
Because microsoft created some jewish deal with netflix to get people to use their shitty browser.
>>
>>60967762
Supposedly there was some beta driver for Pascal at some point too, apparently that's in the works. It still had other retarded restrictions though, like not being able to run multiple monitors or some shit. Completely retarded and ass-backwards.
>>
>>60967795
how else are you supposed to watch 4k?
>>
Edge is the only browser thats not bloated to hell and actually works.
>>
>>60967795
they don't, they just put up with it.
>>
why would they need to verify specifications? like if for some reason your 4k display isn't up to snuff it will detract from their service somehow? i don't understand. All I understand about this is that its incredibly jewy. Its like how microsoft wants to send all your inking and typing data to help windows predict what you're typing.

I get that they have their own agenda, but these excuses don't even make sense.

>>
>>60967810
By yelling at Netflix until they remove it? Public backlash has a pretty good record against DRM.

disgusting
>>
>>60967958
>why would they need to verify specifications?
It requires this very specific hardware and software chain in order to be DRM'd up the ass all the way from Netflix to your display so they can "prevent" piracy by stopping you from capturing the video stream.

>>60967981
What exactly is this HDMI tap and how does it circumvent HDCP 2.2?
>>
Kind of embarrassing, my 6 year old EeePc with an 1.8Ghz intel atom can stream youtube in 4k just fine.
netflix must just suck ass if they assert the claim that you "need" that kind of performance to stream 4k.
>>
Only good enough goyim get comprised with that restriction.
>>
>my 6 year old EeePc with an 1.8Ghz intel atom can stream youtube in 4k just fine

um wtf how? My haswell i3 4005u can't
>>
>>60967150
>Shit site is shit.
>site
HDCP 2.2 isn't exclusively a Netflix thing. You can thank autistic Hollywood execs for it. I don't get why they even bother. HDCP 2.2 has already been cracked, and the new blu-ray encryption has supposedly been cracked already as well, but by a private party that hasn't released it. This shit only harms normal consumers.
>>
>>60967485
>All legitimate 4K works on Windows 10 machines in Edge on Intel Skylake
FTFY. This isn't a Netflix specific problem. (Not that they're not part of the problem, but let's not forget who the real enemy is.)
>>
>>60968013
>What exactly is an HDMI tap
Any signal wire can be tapped in a way undetectable by either end, by silently monitoring the signal. This is inherent to electromagnetic conductors.

Take this signal and pass it to a capture box.
>>
>>60968069
>Legitimate
Don't try to legitimize DRM. "Corporate" or "restricted" is a cleaner term.
>>
>>60967762
Yep, Netflix is the enemy here.
>>
>>60967810
Download 4k rips sense their shitty encryption's already broken.
>>
>>60968089
The signal is encrypted friendo. The TV/monitor decrypts it in order to get the actual image. Literally tapping the HDMI cable won't get you shit unless you also break HDCP 2.2.
>>
>muh 4k
>>
>>60968144
See
>>60968124

Literally tapping the HDMI cable gets you the encrypted signal, which is fine because it's broken already lol
>>
>>60968013
>>60968089
It's important to note that what makes HDCP 2.2 so fucking atrocious is that content is encrypted all the way from the source to the screen, and the device sending the media and your display will communicate over HDMI (or whatever connection you're using) to establish an encrypted connection. (this means using HDCP 2.2 media means running arbitrary encrypted data you *supposed* to be powerless to inspect on your hardware) the point being, that a simple capture is insufficient as the data is encrypted. Thankfully, this shit is useless for everything except pissing off paying customers, and has already been broken. Based gooks sell a product that will tap the HDMI signal and unencrypt it.
>>
>>60968155
>>60968168
That's amazing news to me, didn't know it was already broken. Fucking awesome if that's the case.
>>
>>60968102
I'm not legitimizing DRM dipshit. I fucking abhor DRM. I meant 4k from legitimate, meaning the content provider, sources. As much as I support piracy in this DRM infested world, the content providers are still the legitimate sources of their content.
>>
my NAS running samba doesn't have this problem.
>>
>>60968187
There's even a supposed 4K blu-ray rip in the wild, meaning some chink has possibly cracked the 4K UHD blu-ray encryption as well.
>>
>>60966675
>>60966844
It's guaranteed because of some drm bullshit. (they)'ve been pulling this shit since tape decks, trying to keep people from recording high quality tracks.
>>
>>60968230
when can I expect to play ultrahd in makemkv?
>>
>>60966657
>microsoft silverlight
GEEE
I WONDER WHY
>>
>>60967810
>how else are you supposed to watch 4k?

I've been watching torrented 4k porn for a couple of years now.
>>
>>60967699
You can fit a lot of hardware in a toaster sized envelope these days. If you use Skylake X it could even still toast bread.
>>
>>60968230
Yeah, I read the news about BR but didn't know about HDCP being broken. If HDCP is broken pretty much everything is fair game though, sure you can't rip the actual video off the disc but in most cases you'd download a re-encoded, smaller BR rip in any case so this should server just fine for that purpose as well.
>>
>>60968144
That dumb shit has been bypassed by large groups since like 2015. This literally only negatively impacts normalfags.

>>60968230
>You're surprised.
You're Alice sending a message to Bob, but Bob could also be Mallory in the DRM model. You can't solve for X in this equation. DRM is fundamentally flawed and will always be broken.
>>
>>60968303
>since like 2015
I gotta pay more attention I guess, I've even been using a 4K monitor since 2015 actually.
