'sup /g/
it's been probably 5 or 6 years since I bothered having it installed but I have a decent graphics card and play video games less often that it deserved, so I'm gonna reinstall BOINC
what projects should I run? are there any active teams from 4chan? I used to be on the 420chan team back in the day, I was king motherfucker there for like a week because most people were still using CPUs and I was running my screaming fast Radeon 4770
distributed computing is basically dead

I guess, seems like nobody give much of a shit these days, which sucks because we're not far from using supercomputers compared to 10 years ago
>>60954396
hunting aliens eh?
folding@home sounds much more useful than SETI.
>>60954407
no u
>>60954483
I just pulled something from Google images
I used to run Folding@home, I think I switched To Einstein@home or LHC@home for whatever reason, I think some big release or milestone was coming up
>>60954483
I second this.
>>60954483

Seems folding@home is still the most active project by a significant margin.
There is still a 4chan team, by the way in case there's anybody here interested in starting up again or for the first time. Team # is 47633.
http://folding.stanford.edu/stats/team/47633
I do ATLAS@Home
Alright, one more bump before bed to see if I can get anybody else to hop on board the ever-successful Team 4chan boat like I have
folding with my R9 Fury, we'll see how do. If these estimate as accurate, I should be in the top 20 users if I leave this shit running for 2 days.
I feel like this shit got a major chunk taken out of it since all the people with suitable computers jumped ship to get rich off bitcoin. Sucks, and I know I for one could have gotten rich as fuck if I chose to give a shit when I first heard about it, but oh well.

I use to do folding@home for 4chan a long time ago. My hardware isn't good enough to bother with it currently. 4chan team is probably last.
>>60954396
What are the hardware requirements? I might do it
the chinese will on 2018 will buy the arecibo along with the new one they built it is rumored that they are going to push seti as hard as they can
>>60955339
Once you install folding@home I think they issue work units scaled to your hardware performance. Back in 2009 or 2010 I used a Phenom II and a Radeon 4770 and did well. If you have any kind of dedicated GPU it will provide like a tenfold advantage to working with a CPU only.
If you mean MINIMUM minimum then like a Pentium III on x86. There's an Android client too for whatever reason, doubt that's worth fucking around with.
>>60955555
No I meant hardware requirements to provide significant power.
No point in wasting electricity if it only amounts to 0.00000000000001% of what other people are contributing

>distributed computing
cryptocurrency count as distributed computing though
