i have a laptop and i have had it since 2012 i usually like 10 times or more a day close it and open it like putting it on slumber/sleep mode or i just open and close the laptop lid
and how many times can i do that before it dies it has a harddrive btw

They have a finite lifespan, but opening/closing your PC multiple times daily won't affect their life too much. Especially since sleep mode does not close your PC. Actually capacitorsdon't discharge completely when you shut off your PC, it'll take a few hours to do so (or a short-circuit). You're fine.

Take into account what >>60942105 said but also realize that the actual thing you're going to break doing this is the hinges connecting your screen. If the machine is well constructed it won't be a serious issue but if it's not then you'll eventually snap the hinges. You don't even really have to be closing them hard, normal wear and tear will eventually cause them to fall apart.
